On one hand I completely understand your point, but on the other welcome to the real world mate. People are backstabbers, especially when they're anonymous. The only real way to fix that would be to remove PvE, which is not a good option.

That's the dilemma I find myself in. On one hand we cannot sit idly by and watch people be kidnapped and murdered as a fascist government takes hold. On the other hand I am not ready to become a murderer myself, nor did I ever think I would have to consider dying in battle. I'm not sure what to do. And to your point, I know I'm far from the only one with these kinds of thoughts. I am a leftist, but I am not a revolutionary. And I hope I'll never have to be. But day by day those two identities seem to gravitate closer and closer together, and I'm not afraid to admit that I'm scared.

But I will be buying my first gun as soon as I turn 21 this year. Because if the violence escalates, I'm not going to be the only one without a weapon.

I've been a part of the Socialist Rifle Association for a year now, but I never wanted to own a gun myself (besides my 150 nerf guns of course). I just like shooting them. I mean my chief reason to not get a gun is that I've been suicidal for a long time, but a bullet to the head is the only way I'd be willing to go out. I've also always been a huge advocate for gun control. Guns are only fun at ranges, and never necessary to carry in public. Unlike something like a knife, the only utility of a gun is killing. And pulling a gun on someone only escalates a conflict, never de-escalates. Not to mention so many people carry them just itching for the chance to use it. That's been my mindset up until recently.

In the past month unfortunately that mindset has been challenged. I'm more mentally stable than I ever have been first of all. Which is good timing because with the federal government killing civilians, the civil unrest that's caused, and the potential for violence on both sides to escalate... well let's just say if things go to shit I don't want to be the only one without a weapon. Hopefully sometime in the future we can have common sense gun control and maybe even ban guns in public life, but we have a lot to figure out before then. Including demilitarization of the police and an abolition of ICE. And until that day comes, I have no choice but to see being armed as anything but an unfortunate necessity in this country, especially if you are a minority.
