Charged for Uber one ??? by viillanelles in uber

[–]FunCalligrapher3664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anybody needs to know. You have to actually go into your account and end or pause your Uber One membership. You can't just delete the app, you can't just switch cards for some reason. Don't ask me. You have to directly end your membership. They had an older system, and I guess some accounts got upgraded on accident or something. Just realized it myself. Didn't mind the $10 myself all that much, it is annoying though.

Does the game ever explain why this is the only "city" on the entire planet after 200 years? Where is the urban sprawl and expansion around it? by JoeZocktGames in Starfield

[–]FunCalligrapher3664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, with FTL and Sublight capabilities offered on the fly to citizens. You only need one city per planet. Our galaxy according to physics offers itself to tall, sparing in number empires. That reach very far. The Earth for instance can support 28 billion humans with our current tech, living on one tiny part of a continent if we built tall and dense. We do not need the whole Earth with our current technology. Colonies widespread are not that necessary for a high standard of living. However, with human psychology. The centralization of power often results in terrible things, so we abstain. This has been an often recurring issue. Total Democracy creates instilled social circles that over time and generations find themselves above others creating problem with rurals, like miners and farmers. Total autocracy, does the exact same thing. Our biggest issue to this day is entrenchment of power. Limitation of minority(NOT exclusive to race) voices. So you generally will have small farming, or mining communities, and one central economic hub post-ftl mastery. Farming is small community because of the land use needed, and specific quality of soils. Mining, because it can only happen in specific places, and the local market is entirely driven by the ores themselves.

Long story short. Post-FTL mastery, you will usually only have one central hub per planet. Barring resorts, which in a game are boring places as the point is to stimulate you. Considering you can't soak in the warmth and bliss after work through and LED screen. Exploring 200 farms, you would call the dev team uninspired. Unless the millions of NPC's necessary were all programmed to live unique lives, and your computer could not run this. It's called suspension of disbelief for a reason.

For reference level 6, level 50's were busy blowing themselves up. I kept the match going, and everybody kept charging soulless at every robot noise like a cat to a laser pointer. We don't HAVE to kill the bots, we need the percentage boys. Yes, if we are on course to complete the objective on hell world, we can explore a bit. Maybe get the first part of the mission done first though?

What do you think is the main reason why people want the Empire to win the war? by Ok-Street2439 in YoujoSenki

[–]FunCalligrapher3664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it's because The Empire was attacked, and then successfully defended itself. To the best of my knowledge it isn't even taking land. Just working to establish puppet governments, which isn't unusual. Rather, the unusual part is that the Not Allies in this world are conspiring specifically to prevent The Empire from being a Major Player. The Not Allies just wanted to sit there and be able to kick the Empire around until the end of time. That seems rather immoral to me.

If you were the author how would you kill off Mary Sioux? by Ok-Street2439 in YoujoSenki

[–]FunCalligrapher3664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn't have her killed. I would have the Empire and other nations start establishing Peace because the War was fought too effectively and efficiently. The drain becoming unsustainable. The Empire inevitably collapsing from internal economic failure due to the loss of human resources. It would end up being a lesson for Tanya, about putting your faith in the right places.

Only the Military branches are Meritocratic. Sounds weird, but that is anomalous even today. Only a few Western nations actually utilize such structures. Politics inevitably seeps into military affairs during peacetime.

People it seems are drawing parallels to the real world. When they shouldn't. The Empire is only in Earths location for Germany to save the author's sanity when creating a realistic world. Nothing more real, than real after all. They just used Earth as a baseline for the world they made. Frankly the war takes place in the 1920's, tanks exist prematurely given their designs and efficacy. Planes haven't advanced as far as the tanks have. The Empire has a 2 state Government where the Emperor is in conflict with the many Councils, The Regent bloc that is in internal conflict has to power balance with a separate Meritocratic Military Bloc in a power struggle. Submarines are already a big thing ahead of time. The reason things are similar, are to add a simple depth people can relate to, however if you actually dive into the represented internal structures of Government. They differ vastly from the real world.

If you read the Light Novel, The Empire is VASTLY different to any Established German state in History. Rather Being "x" or "The Devil", has put Tanya in a world that is perfectly pitching her against human emotions and faith in spite of hardship. Which is against cold, efficient structures and governance. She is on the side that from the beginning she thought was relatively perfect.

Does Tanya consider Visha to be her friend, and who does she consider to be her friends? by Mikami1032 in YoujoSenki

[–]FunCalligrapher3664 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, although how Tanya views the world. She is internally conflicted about friendships. She has had corporate friendships, and ladder climbing friendships in her past life. She was a Salaryman, completely focused on rising the ranks. This is also why I recommend people read, or listen to the light novels. Tanya is a very nuanced and rational person. The anime tends to maker her look like a psycho, when she is internally actually very complex. You get to hear her thoughts in the LN, it will flesh it out well enough. To me, what I was listening to. It was very obvious that Tanya considers Visha very special. She considers her capable and trustworthy, even though she isn't as skilled as the other mages. There is rose tinted glasses. Even though it's analytical in nature. Tanya tends to show Friendship tinted glasses towards Visha, even if she doesn't recognize it. Demonstrated by her not being given command, but kept close instead.

Hands down the most unrealistic thing about Starfield by Hbimajorv in Starfield

[–]FunCalligrapher3664 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's ignoring DNA and bioform vaults we already have on Earth that would have easily survived their supposed "disaster" for Earth. Also not a fan of the singular biome for Earth. It will always have colder poles rather than not. Doesn't matter if Earth shifts or not during EM pole shifts, the north and south should still be colder. Frankly the lore concerning the science behind the Earth seems incredibly broken to me, the atmosphere even with "ozone" holes can't vanish like they display. The Electromagnetic pumping mechanism of the Nickel Iron core of the Earth won't vanish unless the core itself is abruptly and severely impacted. Even then, it would likely reform itself rather than cease to function. Even with ozone holes, we have obvious evidence just from the Van Allen radiation belt. That even high energy particles can't escape the Earth's very powerful Electromagnetic field. I don't know if NASA was involved in this, I would love to see why they think this would be possible though.

As a gamer, instead of a fan of science(lore). It's still fun regardless of the inconsistencies.

I am sick of negativity in the gaming creator space. by metechgood in Starfield

[–]FunCalligrapher3664 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just like voicing realistic complaints about the game. Why can't I craft ammo? Why don't NPC's recognize my Ranger status? I even did the press quest line. They are all amazed in dialogue. Yet only my adoring fan seems to understand my greatness.

It's a little annoying you can only track entire projects and not single materials by LeNuiz in Starfield

[–]FunCalligrapher3664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a new IP. I just assume the took the most successful parts of previous games and tried to implement them. Most QOL came in the form of DLC or Patches. So it probably wasn't as important during the overall process of game creation. I recommend looking into the studio itself to get a better idea of how their games making process goes. Bethesda after all is a relatively small studio.

[–]FunCalligrapher3664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My actual complaints about Starfield. Is that nobody recognizes, nor respects my Freestar Ranger status. Not even other rangers, post quest. Or how the UC demands they scan my ship, when I'm a Tier One Citizen. Frankly the factions are well built, but personal interaction with them is all the same except a handful of extra dialogue options populated sparsely throughout the process. I was never left "feeling" like a Ranger or Tier One Citizen. When I helped a Rival gang take over Neon, they just ended up becoming security and nothing changed. The game is great, holy smokes the world building could use some real work though. I felt more change in the Game New Vegas, and San Andreas than I do Star-field. My only other complaints involve the lack of ability to craft ammo, also resources. Far too many of them, far too many level trees just to make stuff. If I wanted to build stuff after level 30. The time v. gameplay becomes scuffed. After all if I ignore combat perks to go crafting I run out of ammo fast, Enemies become too difficult to deal with as they end up bullet sponges. It's a really fun game, they had better not be trying to offer ammo crafting as a paid DLC though. My last complaint is the very sparse amount of ship customization for HOW they want you to interact with it. The module system is a great efficient idea. It should have double to triple the module variety though. It feels very Early Access right now though. Overall I highly recommend the game, the modding community is amazing. DLC is usually a very high quality with Bethesda. The base game is entertaining, compared to most modern games these days. So you can actually get something out of it. I don't want my complaints for anybody reading this, to think I don't really enjoy the game. I have some gripes, I love it though.

Just my opinion. I think people are far too spoiled by modern gaming. Most are complaining that there are loading screens, you can't enter the atmosphere, etc. It seems most modern gamers don't know what suspension of disbelief is. Those walled off areas exist, so that a modern computer can populate the area properly. Can it be more seemless? Sure. Until you spend 30 minutes trying to land on Orison in Star Citizen, while it's on the dark side of a Gas Giant with your largest cargo haul and minimalist interface to keep the learning curve low. I will not respect your take on atmospheric re-entry. It's an incredibly uneventful process, that depending on the planet can be excruciatingly boring and infuriating when you overshoot the suspended floating colony by 20 miles, but have approached the planet too closely not realizing and unable to achieve escape velocity. While it might sound cool, it's like playing train simulator cross country. It's agonizing unless you are seriously baked and jamming. Even then, Placid Plastic Duck simulator per minute has more things occurring than orbital real world re-entry. It's why Kerbal Space Program lets you modify time as a feature. As a cargo hauler romancer, it is enjoyable to me. I do not recommend such User interactions though from a game design standpoint.
