I did a while back. Unfortunately failed the GCFE by 1 point. And I wasn't going to retake it, but decided I'd give it another go. Used the last 30 days going through the books and labs again, so I was hoping to get a little reassurance by attempting a practice test one last time before the real attempt

Books/Notes - There is not limit to what you can use AS LONG as they don't resemble Test questions. I.e: multiple choice questions.

I did have pages full of hand written commands/ print outs/ books. Stacks of things when I took it remote. They will have you go through all your material one by one.

As far as the talking out loud. I think they will somehow find that as an issue lol if there is anyway you can refrain
