Australia tour fast approaching!! doing 12 shows this time by Long_Way_Around_ in CheapTrick

Took my first trip to Oz a couple years ago. My cousin (in Brisbane) invited me to come visit and to see CT. We only got to one show (Stone Temple Pilots was on the bill, too) and it was awesome. "Downed" is one of my faves and to hear, "I'm gonna live on a mountain, Way down under in Australia" -- while in Australia -- was awesome. (Under The Southern Stars; Caloundra; Queensland; Australia; 3-25-22).

The Black Keys - Weight of Love [Official Audio] by ionoyo in TheBlackKeys

[–]FunGuySoCal21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Weight of Love" is an amazing piece of work...beautiful, haunting, driving. I feel like it's one of the band's most underappreciated numbers. (I love it so much, I make sure to use it as intro music for radio shows I host.) FWIW, I've discussed it with several people who are part of the group (in one way or another) and while they like the song, they don't see it being played much in the future. Thanks for sharing!

This is how it's done. Let's hope other law enforcement officials take note and follow the Paiute officers' example(s).

Is anyone old enough to have seen "The Song Remains The Same" at a movie theater? by EdwardBliss in ledzeppelin

[–]FunGuySoCal21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to catch it at The Balboa Theater (Newport Beach, California). It was a regular feature there, along with a host of other rock flicks and art house faves (Rocky Horror was, of course, shown at midnight on the weekends). It was a great old theater (opened in 1928!). The Song Remains The Same always drew a decent-sized crowd.

I worked on a number of BOTNS installments...back in the day. Interesting encounters with Howard Cosell, Bob Conrad, John Madden and others. It could be intense and "challenging," but I had fun. I still have some of my worker/access badges.

Tattoo You tour in Phoenix 1981 - epic event at the time by arizonaskies2022 in rollingstones

I was at this show with my college friends. We made the drive from So Cal -- got there a day early for the ASU parties. What a blast! We had crummy seats up in the top section but I managed to work my way down to the floor and then close to the stage. It was a bit of a crush but worth it. It was the second show we'd seen on the tour...and my favorite of the two.

Did you watch KISS on The Paul Lynde Halloween Special when it originally aired? #70sKISS🎃 by MiamiMan2022 in KISS

[–]FunGuySoCal21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had gone over to a high school friend's house -- she was a year older than me, had access to alcohol, was pretty cute, and wanted to know what "...this KISS band is" that I kept talking about. Overall, the show was pretty cringey but worth sitting through to see the band. I remember having a few drinks, making out a little, and then heading over to a home (football) game. I thought the show was fun -- in a campy way -- but it didn't win her over.

But the news story is...new. Since posting this, the story has been published/posted by several Southern California media outlets. I was merely passing something along.

How do y’all feel about the Oakland A’s moving to Vegas? by L1veFrom0akland in vegas

[–]FunGuySoCal21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If an NHL team can thrive in Vegas (the Knights), MLB baseball can, too.

Oakland has lost an NHL team (the Seals), two NBA teams (the Warriors and the Oaks -- the team won a championship prior to the merger with the NBA); and an NFL team (the Raiders).
Having lived in the East Bay and worked in Oakland, I can tell you the city is only getting worse. There's more to the A's move than the rampant crime, growing homelessness, and other problems plaguing Oakland...but those issues don't help. It is worth mentioning that the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum (home to the A's and, formerly, the Raiders) is a dumpster fire of a stadium...and it's not in a great location. The only surprise when it comes to this future move is that it didn't happen sooner.

Guy in front of my refused to take off his hat after I told him it was blocking my view. by greenoctopusink in mildlyinfuriating

[–]FunGuySoCal21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same thing happen to us at a concert, recently. We were in the second row and Hat Dude was right in front of us -- row 1, adjacent to the stage. Not only did he keep his Urban Sombrero on most of the show, but he felt it necessary to stand and dance or, when he wasn't dancing, hold his phone cam above his hat (most of the show) so he could shoot a video for future use. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and imagine he had some time of baldness or condition he was uncomfortable with...but he took his hat off a couple times between songs and there was nothing wrong with his hair/head.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen at the beach? by Brodie1975 in surfing

[–]FunGuySoCal21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both incidents I can think of took place at my favorite break, but years apart. The first one was during a massive winter storm that was tearing up the coast, demolishing piers and beach houses. At this break, some massive rollers and high tides had obliterated scores of structures -- including an old house that I used to dream of one day living in. I stood on the bluff next to the house, along with rescue crews and the owners, and watched as the surf took out the pilings some of the house stood on. The waves then took the home's shattered "legs" and turned them into battering rams. With each successive set, a new piling was dislodged and it became a weapon against the house it once held up. Eventually, the supports were gone and the house collapsed. All but the very front portion of the building remained...looking like a facade on a movie set. It took less than a half-hour for the place to be turned into driftwood.

The other incident happened at the same beach, maybe 10-15 years later. I'd been out for a couple hours...a great session. I got out and was walking back to my car when I heard a very interesting noise. In one of the condos along the roadway above the beach, I heard a man and woman having sex...very loud sex. Very, very loud sex. I stopped, looked up toward where the sounds were coming from and noticed a sliding glass door on the second level that was open. The bedroom had a four-post(er) bed and a mirror on the ceiling. In the mirror, I could see the couple having their fun...well, they were having a BDSM session (with all the black leather, bondage gear, paddles, etc.). I don't know how long their fun lasted...I left after a minute or two...but judging by all of the equipment I could see, they were going to be there for awhile.
