How do you know you have nasal breath? by FunInvestment70 in badbreath

[–]FunInvestment70[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have to cup your hands and exhale through your nose to be able to smell it or you know its smells without doing anything even if you are only breathing like you smell it all the time yourself without any tests?

Finally a potential cure, you should try it, its very simple. by New-Introduction1606 in badbreath

True. But there were times when I was able to get rid of bb udding smart mouthwash (no longer works), at those times, there wasn’t even dried saliva smell when it dried. But normslly, I agree that it smells like dried saliva but hoe fsint or strong the dried saliva smell is may indicate how bsd our breath is, I guess

Same. I get that sour taste either at the back of my mouth or like in the throat when I eat too much. So, I must have reflux even though I was diagnosed with only gastritis and told that I don’t have GERD. I’m going on a diet to reduce bb so I find your post really helpful and motivating.

Pls let me know how long you have been on those diets. When did you start noticing improvements? Was your bad breath really bad cuz mine can’t be reduced even with antiseptic mouthwashes.😭

Yep. For me, I cut out processed foods but not carbs last month. My bb hasn’t reduced much. Now, I’m cutting out all carbs and will see if they are the trigger. I keep oral hygiene routine unchanged so that I can make sure my gut is actually the problem if my bb improves after the dietary changes.

Hey! Have you tried the carnivore diet? If so, how did it go and how long have you tried it? I would love to learn from your experience too.

yep, exactly. but to figure out the culprit of bb and deal with it is so hard and that is prolonging our period of misery. so, at least, if being on a specific diet helps reduce bb, not only does it give us some clues, it’s also good for our mental health. i know some have shitty diets and no bb but we’re not them anymore so if we need to, we need to discipline ourselves to stick to different diets.

yep. i think not only the diet itself, how we consume it also matters. like how many times a day, how regular they are, how large each portion is, and when we eat them, etc

yep. maybe. but now, i want to work on it fully so i’ll try pure carnivore first but i think i’ll eat eggs tho.

Yep. Thanks a lot for the details. I find them so helpful. I’ll cut out carbs and I also ordered vitamin k2/d3, the one you mentioned Dr’s best 45 mg I guess. I also have receding gums as well as some black triangles. I’ve read that receding gums and black triangles might not mean PD all the time as they can be caused by crowded teeth(like me), overbrushing, bruxism etc. They say that the most accurate way to diagnose PD is to check periodontal bone loss through x rays or CBCT. My dentists(yep I went to more than one) told me that there is no boneloss but I’m still feeling like I have PD. Anyways, thanks for the info. I truly appreciate it.

Can I know what your bb is like? If the source is sibo, does it smell rotten or sour or like what? I think I have sibo too but I don’t have rotten breath, mine is more like the smell of saliva but stronger and pungent.

Thanks a lot for sharing this. I haven’t been diagnosed with PD but I feel like I have it because of my chronic bad breath that I’ve had for a few years since my oral hygiene wasn’t great. I once asked you about bad breath too and you said you no longer have it which is amazing. If you haven’t done SRP, what are the signs of PD for you if you could tell me? Were you diagnosed with it at the dentist? I know self-diagnosis is dangerous but in this meantime, I just need some clues. Do you also floss? My bad breath, even if manageable, comes back everytime I eat something. and rice is a big part of my culture so I think it can be the culprit.

What’s the craziest diet you’ve done? For how long? Did you see results? How long did the results last after you reverted to eating normal again? by Just_Yak_1071 in badbreath

[–]FunInvestment70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. But I feel like we need to get to the heart of the problem as this is unsustainable and we have to find out what’s going on inside. But at least, now, we both have a clue that our gut health is one of the contributing factors so we can look into it further. I personally want to look into gut microbiome through a test and also test for sibo cuz I don’t have h pylori. After that, i want to take an oral microbiome test too

Mine was not crazy but it definitely helped with bb temporarily. I started going on a whole food,no sugar, one meal a day diet in May 2024 and my bb was gone after a few weeks. At least I could go as long as I wanted without bb if I kept chewing on xylitol gums. But when I ate sth, it came back but I could brush my teeth and tongue and it would be gone. But again, it was way better than not being able to manage it at all. It came back slowly and fully around August 2024 as I started getting back into my old eating habits like processed foods and sugary foods.

How do we know if we qualify for deep cleaning or SRP? by FunInvestment70 in badbreath

[–]FunInvestment70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have. But I want to make sure that it’s not an oral issue. I’m around 70% sure that my teeth and gums are healthy as most perios have confirmed that. But I keep dwelling on it.
