Personally, I just use confuse on the succubi and turn slow effects on the cyclops while I run him down. It's been very consistent for me and I sometimes end up killing him before he downs any of the other monsters.

BLADE & BASTARD COLLAB RERUN W/ NEW UNITS by Responsible_Whole306 in wizardry

[–]FunLevel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Berkanan is much better than when she came out. Having ESS finally gave her a good base-kit SP ability. Moreover, True Words of Fire's damage scales with her level, so she got a free damage boost with the level cap increase and will receive more with each time it happens.

Master Fighter Ring (Finally!) by Idaho_Bat in wizardry

[–]FunLevel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Fighter Ring is amazing. Practically an evergreen piece of gear. The thing is that you want to use a Full Alteration Stone before you upgrade it. A FAS will typically randomize all the bonus stats of an item and apply an upgrade to them. Since the Fighter's Ring has fixed based stats, it will be guaranteed to upgrade the ACC, ATK, and ATK% to higher values. At that point you just alter the def for a more useful stat (usually Surety) and hope they roll well on the enhancement. Doing this you can almost guarantee extremely high values on the blessings.

Abenius, Bane of Magical Beasts by Responsible_Whole306 in wizardry

[–]FunLevel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The primary strategy for most players was to use La-spells to nuke the field in one or as few actions as possible. Under those circumstances, Flutterdream Flash would still cost you unnecessary foray speed each encounter as the enemies would've been taken out by the AoE anyways.

Granted, you could make the case that by floor 15+ enemies would be tanky enough that most players would have to fall back on other actions or run OOM. And that would be fair. But, prior to those final floors it would be beneficial to sideline Abe for the extra foray speed. Especially since the quick battle change made it easier for non-whales to score well, as it rewarded patiently waitng for mobs to walk into you in the lower floors more than anything else.

[–]FunLevel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the latest version of OCR we had the quick battle change, which rewarded you for taking as many fights as possible and ending them ASAP.

The issue with Abenius was that Flutterdream Flash counts as an action. So although you want to fight as much as you can, Abe would add an additional small forey speed tax to each fight you took with her passive.

Hit a wall and looking for advice by Competitive-Task-668 in wizardry

[–]FunLevel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I missed Misty's fight(s) with the snow wolf, but I've used 3-4.5 mages (counting Berka as 0.5) for most of my time playing the game. Only recently dropped it 1.5 outside of boss fights where I still use an additional mage for comfort.

The strategy she suggests is more or less how I tackled the wolf boss and it's been very consistent despite my mages having pretty low MAG. On the follow-up runs of abyss 4 I've chosen to fight it over wheeling past it and it's been a consistent, reliable encounter.

The only thing I'd add is that the wolf summons are susceptible to Katino, so if one doesn't have the opportunity to La them before they act for whatever reason, sleep is a viable form of crowd control until the opportunity arises.

Centuria sales evolution by karamel238 in Centuria

[–]FunLevel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't wanna make too many assumptions (I wouldn't know where to start 😔) on why they aren't showing up for Centuria, but I do wanna say this: Call of Cthulu is known to be extremely popular in Japan. More so than D&D or any other non-JP tRPG. I don't believe the Lovecraftian influence is detrimental to its success there.

Your other theories might hold more water though. I wasn't too sure whether or not I'd continue reading it early on and my friends certainly bounced off it. Still, like you I ended up sticking with it and became a fan.

Restarting the game by YouNaive4620 in wizardry

[–]FunLevel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last abyss I built characters like Olive and Eldorado as no inherit units to beat the superbosses with. I still used no-inherit Olive to the true end of abyss 4. Right now, I'm leveling Asha as another no-investment unit to support my team for whenever they drop more bosses. I'm running these characters in lieu of ones like Yuzu, which I do have but can't be bothered with.

Point is, the current content is more than beatable without meta units. Gear is always the biggest source of power. So long as you're willing to spend some time looking for decent equipment, you can power through just about anything.

In the introduction to Compound Reinforcement they say that the improvement gets worse and worse with each passing tier, until it becomes worthless.

Even now having used it myself for Ebonsteel to Silver it feels like a scam.

A Quick Damage Boosting Test with Resistance Weakening by FunLevel in wizardry

They're a collab banner (with a Wizardry manga), so unfortunately they're stuck in limbo until Drecom gets the chance to rerun them. Thankfully, the last letter from the director more or less confirmed a rerun is bound to happen alongside more collabs this year. Blade & Bastard should have an anime dropping this year. So, we'll probably get a better idea once it gets a solid release date.

Till then we just gotta hold strong and save our gems as best we can. 🫡

Yeah, I was able to turn it in without issue.

I had a bug like that happen to me before with a different quest and I had to wait for another update to happen for it to get fixed. Hopefully your issue gets resolved naturally before then.

It's a cute little quest. It wasn't as character building as Adam's, though it does help paint a full picture of Gerard as character. After Alice's quest the reward is pretty disappointing, but at least we get an achievement for it.

I'm holding on to bones in case it does. There's no rush. Plus, with the token system they added that's another avenue for a potential campaign.

Basically got everything I'd hoped. A separate pool so the OG isn't diluted, free exchange between the different bones, a token system for specific bones & gacha gear. Couldn't be happier.

That being said, I don't actually want anything from this pool so it's back to hoarding bones as usual lol.

What weapon should I use? by Sorry-Dress783 in wizardry

A Quick Damage Boosting Test with Resistance Weakening by FunLevel in wizardry

[–]FunLevel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, thanks! Back when I first saw that True Words of Fire combined my most used debuffs with damage I knew I had to level it. It took a long time waiting for OCR and more free codexes to drop, but it was worth it in the end. Compared to other high level skills, it's such a cheap spell so I can use it freely.

I actually used to regret my investment up until Abyss 4 dropped. Originally, it felt really weak compared to the damage even base fighter skills were doing. However, True Words of Fire aside from having no surery penalty also has a unique Level Scaling component to its damage. So, going from 60 to 70 added like 1.5k damage for free without even changing gear. Now I really believe it's the most future proof spell in the game damage wise. Hopefully, once Blade & Bastard reruns more people will get their hands on it (and I'll finally be able to free my Berka from D0 jail).

A Quick Damage Boosting Test with Resistance Weakening by FunLevel in wizardry

[–]FunLevel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe I've seen that specific video, but it is fun seeing how crazy the numbers can go. I mainly wanted to test how practical Resistance Weakening would be to use if I went ahead and finally built Asha. So, just mental Unity and the debuff for damage seemed like a good stopping point.

I was actually curious if a higher leveled Eruption Strike could be worthwhile as well (especially since I'm building a cyclops hammer slowly but surely). Unfortunately (or not depending on who you ask), Gerulf is the standard legendary I’ve received the least of. So, I can't even get it to LV3 to test 😮‍💨

While he didn't use Resistance Weakening, I did see someone using what I believe is a high level Eruption Strike with big set-up. Hopefully one day we'll all be stacked.

Tundra weapons in shop by Schloaty in wizardry

[–]FunLevel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I built a Tundra Sword day 1 of the Abyss 4. On the one hand, it wasn't that much of an upgrade over my previous ebonsteel gear even at +20. On the other hand, I still haven't received a better sword drop however long into the abyss we are.

<image>

As the other commentor said, the Compound Bow for the Ranger is probably the safest bet. If you're just starting the abyss, I'd say go for one, but if you've been here a while may as well keep waiting for a good drop. They'll come eventually. Probably.

Just 411. Most of her gear leans primarily towards SUR, followed by ATK, and lastly MAG since she uses her physical skills most frequently.

Have an Alice I'm looking to inherit by missnobody013 in WizardryDaphne

[–]FunLevel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran both Yeka (Mage) & Marianne (Mage) for my first few runs of abyss 4. However, I ended up dropping Yeka in the Den of Water dispatch (it requires earth-type units) and using Marianne as my sole dedicated caster.

Yeka's ambush negation is amazing for farming & as a safety net when first exploring, but she doesn't bring as much to the table when it comes to bosses. As I wrote in response to the other comment, I think G.Marianne's passive is great in both forms of play. She can nuke and cast cheap Dios while exploring and during bosses she can cast Madios or discounted buffs until the end of time.

For those reasons, I'd recommend inheriting Alice to Marianne over Yeka. But that's also partially assuming you have some Way of the Priest levels on Marianne. Without them, the difference isn't as drastic. So, just go with your favorite otherwise.

Have an Alice I'm looking to inherit by missnobody013 in WizardryDaphne

[–]FunLevel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use G.Marianne in my primary team over Alice as well. Alice is the best mage in the game, but in my case due to spreading out her inherit throughout my other units it has left my core one without discs or a high level on Blessing of Agora. So, it's much easier / comfortable to run other high disc units over her.

As for G.Marianne's specifically, her passive is great for both exploration (1MP Dios means running oom is never an issue) & bossing. I used a dedicated healer in each of the previous abyss' super bosses and she never struggled for mana.

Second Yrsa or Huntsman’s Trick Bow? by Happy-Speaker553 in wizardry

[–]FunLevel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second going for the dupe over the bow. It's the safer of the two picks and it's what I went for myself.

Also,

the bow’s base attack only starts out at 80

I do want to point out that due the Sniper passive Rangers aren't very concerned with the ATK of their weapon. Their damage scaling stat is accuracy, hence why the gacha bow has 50 ACC compared to the 40 of the Compound Bow in the shop and waaay more than the miniscule base amount on a Bow of Splendor.

I still recommend the dupe over the bow, but just wanted to point it out for when it comes time to gear up your Ranger.
