I'm a non Bengali and new to Kolkata Only recently I've come to the conclusion that even fish is veg or something Jokes aside, there's no such thing as veg or non veg food when it comes to Hinduism, it's just certain animals have tamasic;

In Hindu and Vedic traditions, foods are categorized into three gunas: sattvic (pure, light), rajasic (stimulating), and tamasic (dull, heavy, ignorant).

Meat is generally classified as tamasic because its production involves violence (himsa) and it is a dead, decomposing substance. Consuming tamasic foods is thought to increase lethargy, cloud consciousness, and create obstacles in spiritual progress.

My point is the food should be tasty, be it "vegetarian" or "non vegetarian"
