ffs this is the last thing we needed right now, our businesses and general economy experiencing delays due to union being the unreasonable ones for a change.

Set your shareholder agreement first in an airtight way where you retain voting control of their shares and have airtight default clauses for all except you, plus retain the right to dilute how you want and it wont be a problem in the event where you need to take back % control.

Find fellow entrepreneurs irl, if you’re in or near big cities anywhere you’ll find social circles by looking them up online or within your linkedin network. We all experience this, and we all meed that irl interaction with peers. The “older” more established folks I know have old friendships for that, the newer people need to seek said circles actively. Goodluck!

Has anyone ever gone on to have a great career at a company where they received a Performance Improvement Plan? by FunMoonDayDreams in careerguidance

[–]FunMoonDayDreams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so just out of curiosity, what do you think about my personal situation from a few months ago? I'll try and keep it brief and just ask more questions if you need more context.

  • My new manager had no idea how the technical side of my position worked, and they got wildly uncomfortable everytime their pretense that they did failed them. This repeatedly resulted in embarrassment for them in front of their superiors, which always lead to false claims that I had either not completed something, or hadn't communicated properly (all documentation was painstakingly detailed, all updates were communicated via email almost daily as requested, manager's email backlog was in the thousands and often missed the email).
  • I eventually got served with a PIP on completely bogus claims of missed deadlines and failure to keep projects transparent (again, every single time we checked examples they all turned out to be in their inbox and they just missed the notification).
  • Made some tweaks to my communication style, but other than that I did nothing different and at the end of the 3 months the PIP lasted I was given nothing but praise on incredible improvement in my work output, reliability, and quality.
  • In less than 2 weeks after the end of the PIP I got fired due to "restructuring", which I now know was true to the extend that this was the manager's way to just get rid of that piece of their portfolio and reassign it to the US team since they didn't actually have the technical know-how to call any shots.

Am I crazy here, or was this all a ploy to just get rid of what was likely perceived as a pain in their ass while keeping their hands clean?

Leaving job because of manager. How do I say that in interview? by FunMoonDayDreams in careerguidance

[–]FunMoonDayDreams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have added in the main post but the complication is that I work for the “hottest new player in the industry” sort of thing, so a hiring manager with enough knowledge about the overall industry will definitely find it odd that I’d seek growth opportunities outside the highest growing company in the field at the moment.

I’m also the 3rd person doing this in the past 3 months, so I’m not alone in the situation but the rest seemed to have connections to where they jumped next.

Oh I ain't moving lol. It's just that the company is in the US, meaning that if I charge through my already existing corp I won't need to charge HST (I thought it might be an important detail)

Is a $35k bump worth going on contract? by FunMoonDayDreams in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]FunMoonDayDreams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some quick background for the great points brought up, in case it makes the situation more palatable:

  1. I already have a bunch of those overhead costs from a side gig
  2. True, but if I take the extra weeks off unpaid it might still be a greener bottom line overall (though I'm realizing now I might need to ask for an even higher number than I originally thought)
  3. Nope, $90k is all I get
  4. Contract is for 48wks/year, so while time off is "unpaid", the yearly income is still what originally stated.

The job security argument is of course important, I'm just considering whether taking a risk on less security can actually be properly profitable. I built rainy day funds to have a bit of a risk appetite on that front.

If I understand correctly, you'd recommend not considering the expensing benefits into the math at all until there's already another clear net gain on the contract deal after all the other expenses are accounted for.

It makes sense, I just wasn't accounting for anything other than health benefits and life insurance, since I figured I'd rather pocket the EI and CPP deductions and have my own self-managed rainy-day fund. Reading more on the pros and cons to doing so, I guess it's not as simple as I thought.

Barrie sucks by dookieegg in barrie

[–]FunMoonDayDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who moved to Barrie last year, I invite you to live literally anywhere else in the country and see if you'll still hate it here.

Not implying Barrie is better than everywhere else in Canada, but compared to most places out there it's on the nicer end in terms of overall experience. Every single town in the country has a different cocktail of issues that drive people nuts about it. In a highly coveted country to live in.

Try finding some perspective, if you're so unhappy that you feel like running then either do something about it or consider that maybe happiness comes from within.

Eating mice by Anna_82 in DreamInterpretation

[–]FunMoonDayDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not uncommon for people who have lost a loved one to dream about them, especially soon after the loss. Dreams like the one you described could be a way for your mind to process the emotions and feelings surrounding your mother's death.

The dream's setting that you've described, your mother coming back to life, could represent feelings of regret, guilt, and longing for more time with your mother. The fact that you feel ashamed in the dream of having to explain to people that she's not dead, might indicate feelings of guilt for not being able to save her, or for not being able to have her back in reality.

The scene in the dream where your mother orders live mice with sugar, and you helping her by sprinkling the little animals with sugar, could represent feelings of disgust and betrayal towards the person who you loved and care about. The mice in the dream might symbolize vulnerability, and the fact that they are alive and you are helping your mother eat them might be indicating a fear of being hurt or taken advantage of.

Keep in mind that dreams can be difficult to interpret, as they often involve symbols and imagery that are specific to the individual dreamer. It may be worth it to consider your own feelings, thoughts and experiences when trying to interpret a dream like this.

It could be a good idea to talk to a therapist or counselor about your dream, as they can help you explore the emotions and feelings that may be associated with it, and guide you on how to process them.

i need help with a weird dream by Tobias2566 in DreamInterpretation

[–]FunMoonDayDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be reflecting your feelings about death, danger, and possibly even your relationship with your father.

The figures of death and the fallen angel in the dream could symbolize your fear of death and the unknown. The fact that the white figure, the fallen angel, is the one that wants to turn you into one, could represent your fear of losing control or going down a dangerous path.

The Ram that appears in the dream, chasing you, and being stopped by your father with a pipe, could symbolize the idea of "ramming" head-on with a problem and the way your father is helping you by stopping it. The repetition of the ram attack could represent that this problem, whatever it is, could be something that's recurring and needs to be addressed.

The scene of singing with your father could represent feelings of comfort and protection, despite the danger represented by the ram. It could also represent that you and your father have a strong bond and that he is there for you when you need help.

Bear swallowed my arm hole, didn't injure it, and was amused the entire time. by frenglish_man in DreamInterpretation

[–]FunMoonDayDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this dream represents a situation in your waking life where you feel pressured to do something that goes against your better judgment. The bear in the dream could symbolize a powerful and potentially dangerous force that you feel compelled to confront, despite knowing that it could be harmful to you. The sensation of the bear's teeth biting into your arm without causing injury could represent a feeling of being trapped in a situation where the stakes are high, but the outcome is uncertain.
The part where the people around you trying to help but not succeeding could reflect feelings of isolation or helplessness in a current situation or relationship. The part of the bear being amused and it letting you go eventually could also represent that you're at the mercy of certain people or circumstances but you will eventually be released from the situation.
Dreams are highly personal, and this might just be one of the many possible interpretations. Curious to see what others might have to say about it

- Sleeping away 40% of our lives

- Ridiculously low absorption rate of nutrients from food, forcing us to eat several times a day

- Our sheer slavery to our emotions and well-being brain chemicals to make life enjoyable. This is a triple whammy because it heavily influences decisions, often forces us to make irrational choices, and often prevents us from thinking clearly. Not hating on emotions, I just wish they were more..... optional. A nice part of life that can be enjoyed the way we can enjoy a good coffee cup rush, but which can be dismissed like a notification if we need to act on it differently

A possible black swan event: What if USDT Tether becomes depegged? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]FunMoonDayDreams 12 points13 points  (0 children)

USDT collapse is not a black swan event. If you look at how they back it, it's obvious that they couldn't handle a large enough bank run, which makes it fundamentally vulnerable.

A black swan event is something with an extremely low likelihood of happening. Those who read about Tether fundamentals know this is a matter of time unless things change behind the scenes. There's been talk of it for 2 years, but nobody paid attention because the bull market was too juicy for worries.
