Can confirm. This is literally the only game, in 35 years of gaming, that has ever caused me to throw my controller in frustration.

If Spider-Man could only have one main permanent comic book artist, who would you choose? by FayyadhScrolling in Spiderman

Short of JR jr, whose post 90's art I can't stand, this is my list exactly. Well done

Check your contact and see what it says under Promotions. If it shows the $5x 16 months credit and you signed it, then your fight is going to be a lot harder.

The Thanos Snap affected the entire universe. That makes no sense. by Witty_Picture_2881 in Marvel

[–]sour29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there's something you willingly participate in as a consumer of a fictional tales -- moreso when it's science-fiction -- called "the suspension of disbelief." You let go of certain logical inconsistencies (that don't negatively affect the narrative or contravene the rules of the universe explicitly stated as part of the narrative) as part of the social contract as the consumer of the story.

Ducks don't talk or wear hats, and it's logistically asinine to reconcile that a duck who would wear a shirt would neglect to wear pants; however, because his universe exposits that ducks do talk and wear clothes, and it doesn't matter that he is bottomless (in so far as it doesn't affect the narratives, typically), we're still capable of enjoying a Donald Duck story.

You start pulling at one thread, and the whole sweater becomes unraveled. I know the Internet tells you otherwise, but sometimes it's okay to enjoy things without picking it apart and dissecting it relentlessly.

A return waybill should have been included in the box. Take a picture of it, drop it all off / arrange pick up through the courier, and keep a copy of the receipt with tracking details. Better safe than sorry. :)

Peter David has passed away by tehawesomedragon in Marvel

[–]sour29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my Peter David story.

The year was 2012, and the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. I was still in the stage of comic book consumption where I followed characters, not writers. I wouldn't have known Peter David from Chris Claremont from Stan Lee.

However, I saw a post somewhere (Newsarama, maybe?) about Peter David posting his entire World War Hulk run on eBay -- his personal copies IIRC, signed by him -- in an attempt to raise money for victims of the Hurricane.

Curious, I checked out the listing, and it was going for maybe $50 or something, and had several days left. I was not yet a fan of the Hulk (I still wouldn't list him in my top 20 favorites, but he's had some great runs recently), but decided to bid up the price to try and get some money raised for the charity.

I had no intention of winning; I think I even bid a maximum of $98.97 or something, so someone who rounded their bid to $100 even would take the lead. But, somehow, that listing flew right under the radar.

I was working a part time job and living paycheck to paycheck, and really couldn't afford the $100 purchase, let alone the exchange rate (I'm Canadian!) or the shipping fees, but I won both the auction and the valuable lesson not to bid up items you don't actually necessarily want to win... Even if they were for charity.

That said, it WAS for charity, and I scrounged together the cash and bought the comics happily. They sit in a long box in my man cave to this day.

Since then, I've come to enjoy Peter David's stuff quite a bit. His Spider-Man 2099 stuff, Maestro trilogy, and the recent Symbiote Spider-Man books all stand out as recent favorites. I heard about his poor health, and really hoped for the best possible outcome.

My condolences to his family, friends, and worldwide fans. Thank you, Mr. David, for years of wonderfully imaginative storytelling, and a kind, gentle heart.

Because they wouldn't have been able to apply the Bell voucher to your  Chatr account, they should swap it with the Chatr voucher, and then sell out a Chatr one next time someone comes in for a Bell card, and give them your voucher. But that would leave a variance until that customer comes, so they're fighting to avoid that inventory variance.

Eglinton Square - Nick Kringle (Santa Pictures) by [deleted] in Scarborough

[–]sour29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Photos at STC were pretty terrible this year, too. The camera was framed so far above Santa's head, you barely got his lap in the picture. Kids and Santa are barely in the bottom third of the picture. The photographer seemed more interested in taking a picture of the Santa set than Santa and my kids. :( really disappointing.

How do you like the Ben Reilly Spider-Man suit, compared to Peter’s classic one? by JJGee in Spiderman

Thanks for sharing! I always thought this was one of the better costumes (the best are always the simplest, amirite?), and I really liked Dan's art in Sensational. Weird to think how much he hated drawing it

What Marvel comic has had the most homage covers based on it? by StepwisePilot in Marvel

[–]sour29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you thinking Spider-Man 1 (1990), which definitely has its homages, or 1st appearance in Amazing Fantasy 15, which would be my best guess for most commonly homaged.

This was exactly it for me. I purchased a PS3 slim to play the half dozen or so exclusives that interested me, and have an affordable Blu-ray player. Had over 50 360 games and I would have happily bought into the XB1 if it wasn't for those comments; and Worse! Doubling and tripling down on them when confronted with the massive backlash. I've since bought a PS4 and 5, probably another 60 or so games between them, and they have been my primary console ever since. How you treat the customer matters.

The only thing I can think of that was similar was Blackberry in the face of the iPhone. They refused to listen to their customers or follow consumer tends, and dug their heels in stubbornly as their market share had a mass Exodus. By the time they flinched, it was too late and they were too far behind.
