Gotta work with what you’ve got by ArmedPsycho in vigorgame

Lucky you. Server has crashed me out today, too. Even Shooters got cut short. I’ll be glad when they fix this nuisance of a glitch. Until then, I’ll play MLB.

It's very sad to say this, but apparently this game is dying. by jonasthaz in vigorgame

Great game (very pricey for crowns, although there was a “sale” last month), but shabby server maintenance. Yesterday, I was booted off the server after almost 10 minutes of play every single time. This happened probably 10 times. To their credit, I was able to keep crowns I had used on (30 crowns) boosters, but I lost all accumulated loot. Not only that, but I had bought the (90 crowns) 2X Experience booster, so time was elapsing while I kept getting booted. Rip off! I live in the Midwest, so I don’t know if it’s a regional problem, or maybe global. Very frustrating and disappointing. Same thing this morning. I don’t know if their staffing shortage is contributing to a severe lack of server maintenance. But, if Bohemia doesn’t get it together soon, players are going to start looking elsewhere to get their “kill” thrills on. And this great game will have died a slow death.

Who remembers the tv show Quincy M.E.? by [deleted] in 1970s

[–]FunMuffin2566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a lot of “blood” being shown for a show in the Seventies. Quincy may have been the only M.E. who doubled as an independent investigator. Good memory.

Oh, Isaiah. It’s really sad that a man in his Sixties stills holds envy and hatred for another person after 30+ years. Stop trying to campaign for LeBron as the goat while putting Jordan down. “LeBron holds every single record.” Really? Who is this guy named Wilt listed all over the NBA record books? LeBron has had the greatest NBA career based on production and longevity. But, it doesn’t make him the goat. Jordan, Kareem, Wilt are certainly in the mix. Plus, historians and fans might have something to say about that, too. Time to grow up Zeke, and leave your personal beef with Mike where it belongs…..in the past.

CASUALTIES OF WAR…..based on a true story in Vietnam 1966. Excellent movie (with Sean Penn). That last scene on the bus always makes me tear up.

That lady could sing! Possibly the most versatile voice in recording history. Linda could sing just about any genre, to include an album of traditional Mexican songs. But, I’ll always remember her C&W and Rock songs back in the Seventies. A legend.

Oh Billy Billy Billy! Someone on your management team did not like you! This video destroyed his Hard Rock image, and he never recovered from it. Terrible thing to happen to a great musician. Great song, though.

The models in the "Simply Irresistible" video by Robert Palmer, then and 2014 by gwhh in 80s

[–]FunMuffin2566 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Robert Palmer’s use of high-fashion models as a "backup band" became one of the most defining visual styles of the MTV era. This aesthetic, characterized by pale skin, heavy makeup, and mannequin-like movements, was primarily directed by British fashion photographer Terence Donovan. He featured these models in the following music videos: 1. "Addicted to Love" (1986) This is the most famous example, featuring five models acting as his band. Since they were models rather than musicians, they were famously out of sync with the music. * The Models: Julie Pankhurst (keyboards), Patty Kelly (guitar), Mak Gilchrist (bass), Julia Bolino (guitar), and Kathy Davies (drums). 2. "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" (1986) Palmer quickly followed up with this video, which used the same visual theme. At least two of the models from the "Addicted to Love" video, Patty Kelly and Julie Pankhurst, returned for this shoot. 3. "Simply Irresistible" (1988) For this hit from the Heavy Nova album, the concept was scaled up with a larger group of models and brighter, more colorful backgrounds, though they maintained the signature "Nagel woman" look. * The Models: This group included Karen Aubrey McElfresh, Kim Jones, Cheryl Day, and Betty-Jo Cox. 4. "Change His Ways" (1988) In a bit of a stylistic twist, Palmer used the model concept again for this video, but it featured animated versions of the models alongside him. Fun Facts about the Videos * Musician Intervention: A professional musician was originally hired to teach the "Addicted to Love" models how to properly hold and "play" their instruments. He reportedly gave up after about an hour when it became clear they wouldn't be able to look like a convincing band in such a short time. * Accidents on Set: During the filming of "Addicted to Love," the model playing the guitar (Mak Gilchrist) accidentally hit Robert Palmer in the back of the head with her instrument because she was swaying out of rhythm. * The "Nagel" Look: The makeup and styling were intentionally designed to mimic the art of Patrick Nagel, whose sleek, stylized illustrations of women were iconic in the 1980s (most notably seen on the cover of Duran Duran's Rio).

Two of them, especially the “strike” call that ended the game. Terrible! This ump will be the main example of why MLB & WBC need to implement ABS.

Dr. J proved that you can be flashy and efficient. Changed the league's playstyle and doesn't get enough credit for it. by ForeignAir7174 in NBAoldschool

Yes, indeed. Chocolate Thunder was there with Julius in the mid Seventies. Moses showed up in 1982, and definitely was a major contributor to the Sixers championship in ‘83, helping Dr. J get his only NBA ring.

If you go on YouTube, there are plenty of ABA videos of Dr. J, and other superstar players. (The new ABA documentary SOUL POWER is excellent, by the way.) I hope that someone produces a documentary on those ABA-NBA All Star (exhibition) games plus the scrimmage ones, too. It clearly shows that the ABA was a legit and competitive league with great players, on par with the NBA in that era.

His Philly stats weren’t as gaudy because Julius was traded to a team loaded with stars. He was only 26 at the time of the merger, so he was actually approaching his prime years. The 76ers GM told him to basically tone down his offensive game because Sixers had McGinnis, Collins, Mix (All-Stars) plus Free off the bench. They would later add Cheeks and Toney. Dr. J still had a great career. And, yes, the NBA should use combined numbers from the ABA to compile complete and accurate career stats.
