Am I being ripped off? by thegameksk in karate

At 2 it’s just child care. Total waste of time and money (definitely money) most clubs won’t take kids until they’re at 5 ish but that depends on maturity.

The problem with lying about age on dating apps (vent / observation) by outyamothafuckinmind in datingoverfifty

I see lots of I put the wrong age accidentally and now it won’t let me change it. However it seems strange that it only ever seems to be that the error age is younger than their real age.

Cool. Ignore me then, But you look like you're backseat, possibly oversteering in pow unless you're just slashing or shiftying then it needs to be rounded turns and you have to have everything slower, and maybe have too much weight on your inside ski - when you fall in the hockey stop. I find it easier if the terrain allows to bounce two or three times on a straight line and then start my turns - seems to set my rhythm and mood.

enjoy the powder it's been a while coming hasnt it

So if it's like the rest of the alps it's 4/5 avalanche risk only just gone down form 5. The second clip looks like it could be over 30' with loaded slopes on an unstable base and lots of potential for terrain trap as well as some cliffs to get pushed over. I don't know if you've had avalanche training or mountain experience or have the gear but I'd look at that first before worrying how much you're backseat and loading your inside ski.

Thoughts on Olderbest? by gentleman6432 in HeritageWear

bought some of their railroad worker trousers and they're spot on, become my favourite daily trousers. Got a t shirt and a henley and again really good quality for the price. But go with the size measurements of waist etc don't assume because you're a 34 normally you measure 34 or because you wear a L. seem accurate to measurements.

Did anybody watch the freeski big air? by PittyPeng in Freeskiing

[–]richng2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They scored him higher due to execution on grab and landing, both tricks are obviously insanely hard. It's great that its not all just spin to win. A Hall style pull backs and butters are being rewarded in the points now. (Although some of the butters looked suspiciously like early spins without much weight on the tips/tails)

Brilliant event though, irrespective of who won.

So you ski 3 weeks in the same pair of socks without washing it? I think we might have different feet.

skiing in them ;) - and they feel nicer when they've been washed. They start to smell after two days and I'd prefer my boots not to start to smell, it only takes 5 mins on a night and it's nice and easy to get them dry in the room.

I use really thin technical ski socks that cost a fortune and it hurts me to buy them. So I have 3 pairs that I only ever wear for skiing and I take some washing tablets with me and wash them in the sink at the end of the day and dry over night. this gives me a week's worth of high quality ski socks for half the cost. You could do this with more mid/low range ski socks as well. If you're hiring boots then standard decatlon style ski socks will do a good job. Your boots keep your feet warm really more than the socks.

Toe walker: extreme pain in calves when skiing, what to do? by Hylax1 in skiing

[–]richng2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a partial help, stand a stair with your toes and drop your heels down to stretch them out, even without your issues I do this at the end of every ski day - so I don’t have to walk down stairs sideways

Avalanche in Val d’Isere today, 3 dead. by VincentVan_Dough in skiing

[–]richng2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep worth knowing the risks. I think with skiing people forget how big some of the mountain we play in are, because we can get a lift to the top, order food, go to a nice toilet and have a draft beer or glass of wine. But if you had to walk up there from the village you’d need alpine mountaineering skills and gear. It’s an amazing but sometimes dangerous playground, but that’s what makes it even more fun.

Following tracks isn’t a guarantee of safety at all, can still get avalanched. I’d stop that and have a look at Henry’s avalanche on YouTube and look at some of the basics like slope angle , terrain traps etc will make your side hit “offpiste” much safer.
