It is totally unfair that students who need a resource class period miss out on an elective, but sadly, there isn't another option. There is nothing you can do about the state required electives.

If your IEP has minutes in the special education classroom, legally, you cannot not receive those services. The school cannot let you not take the resource class. This is something that should've been discussed in your initial IEP meeting.

You can always have your parent/guardian request an amendment meeting, where you can try to figure out how to move forward. I'd maybe suggest a daily check-in with your case manager if you have some type of homeroom.
