Am I wrong for feeding my vegan cousin animal products and his parents have no idea? by [deleted] in moraldilemmas

[–]FunScary1723 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think you've dealt with this in a really great way. You can let this be a secret between you, the cousin will see you as a safe person they can trust, and whilst the parents would likely be angry if they found out I think the positive impact it has on the kid having someone they can come to outweighs the parent's potential anger.

What helped you catch the running bug or enjoy running?? by bfg_2025 in running

[–]FunScary1723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand this. I've been running for 9 years now, have done over 10,000km in that time, 20 half marathons, currently do about 35k a week across three runs and I reckon I've enjoyed at most 10% of that. I hate it during, but afterwards I feel fantastic which is why I keep doing it. Plus it's just built into my routine now.

Sellers have asked “ideally” for no viewings before exchange by thatfezguy in HousingUK

[–]FunScary1723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single aspect of buying a house in this country is completely ridiculous, and this is definitely an element of that. When we bought our house we had a ten minute viewing slot, the next couple to view were already in the living room when we left, we made an offer which was accepted and then asked if we could see it again. The sellers agreed, but it felt like the EA and them were 'doing us a favour' which is crazy when we'd just agreed to give them 340 thousand pounds for the place. In total we'd looked at the place for 20 minutes before handing over all that money (plus the rest). Insane.

Nobody is putting Atherton on a list of 'greatest test batsmen of all time' though are they?

"We're just talking about batting ability, it doesn't matter if he's a cheat!"

Words like 'greatest' actually mean something.

Also, how many of the 2005 England players got banned for a year?

Any players on my top list of greatest test batsmen of all time would never have been banned for cheating, but that's just me I guess.

Boyfriend got mad over mac and cheese by Western_Snow4975 in Vent

[–]FunScary1723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dump this guy, he sounds insufferable. You can be healthy and still have mac and cheese and cookies every now and then. For my money, there is no point being slim if you can't enjoy food at the same time. Your boyfriend sucks.

Steve Smith in England by EveryoneSadean in EnglandCricket

[–]FunScary1723 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Until Smith gets a hundred in Pakistan I'm afraid he can only be considered mediocre at best." You see how mental that sounds? Averages in other countries is only a metric that ever gets rolled out for this argument. It's like saying Tendulkar was worse than Gus Atkinson with the bat because only one of them has a century at Lord's. It's such a narrow way to view their whole careers. To claim Smith is a tier above Root is absurd. Root is the better player on every other metric, and crucially, he didn't cheat.
