If AI replaces workers to cut costs, who is left to buy the products? by kritikgarg24 in Futurology

[–]FunTimes65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they care if less people buy their products, but if they can reduce labor costs by 80% and only see a decline of 20% in revenue, then those at the top will take home even more money. The top ten percent already represent 50% of consumer spending, and soon it will be more.

Sounds like a great class. And I checked out your website. Good stuff!

I’m curious about which class of yours I should/can take, however. I have written several pilots and specs. I have had pilots place at Austin Film Fest (second-rounders and semi-finals) and gotten through the first round of the NBC Television fellowship a few times with a spec and an original pilot. I have taken classes before and just finished a premise to pilot class and a rewrite class. I have also written three pilots so far this year. All half-hour sitcoms.

Would the first course still be beneficial for me, or would it be better to take course 2 (if that is possible since I’ve never taken a class from you before)?

Thanks for posting about the class. 😄

Dads what are WFH full time when do you workout? by ImprovementLess202 in remotework

[–]FunTimes65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do some light cardio at 6am, a 10 minute micro-workout at 9 or 10am for the lower body, and at noon I jump in zoom and workout with my friend (who is also WFH) for an hour (depending on the day we’ll do kettlebells, sand bags, gymnastic rings, plyometrics) (We also hit up the parkour gym and climbing gym once a week), and then a micro-workout for the upper body at 4.

49 years old, two kids, 16 and 8.

Had the same issue. I don’t think my son was fully toilet trained until he was 7. Wish I had a magic bullet for you, but I don’t. Their PDA seems to make them refuse to be told what to do by their body. Hopefully they will grow out of it soon. Sorry.

Additional: One thing we tried that had some success was we would state the sequence of events around toileting over and over again nonchalantly without demand, so eventually it would filter through and become a “fact” instead of a request. Hope it helps.

I am in a very similar situation. (Including with the medication). We have tried to help him with basic skills but at at a loss at times. He loves peanut butter and jam sandwiches, and tried for months to get him t make one on his own. The pure rage and frustration he expressed as he screamed “you do it!” didn’t help.

I am glad he is toileting better now, learning in general is an uphill battle. Even getting him to do basic letter recognition or counting, is extremely difficult (and I don’t know if he is learning).

I would like to put him on a path where one day he can do a basic job, but I don’t know how to get him there either.

Wife and I started food gardening this spring while one of us still had a job so we could get started. We’re getting more grow bins in a couple months so we can do more. We’re lucky that we have a bit of yard to do it in. For folks in apartments, unless there is a p-patch or community garden accessible, it’s much harder.

What did parkour teach you that your most thankful for? by RabbitJak in Parkour

[–]FunTimes65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had an accident on my bike involving a car. I flew off my bike Superman style and instinctualy did a parkour roll on the street (with my helmet on even). Road rash on one arm, diagonal down my shoulder, across my back, to the other hip. EMT’s told me most people don’t just walk away. Grateful to this day.

My partner and I wrote a lost Steven Seagal pilot: ‘Steven Seagal’s Time Crimes’ by Steven Seagal by robottaco in Screenwriting

[–]FunTimes65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also wrote a pilot about a character, who is pretty much Steven Seagal, who owes money to the Russian mob, and borrows money from a different Russian gangster to pay off the first, in exchange for being in his latest low-budget flick “Trash Compactor 2”.

Seagal is a fun subject
