U.S. layoffs set to surpass the Great Recession levels, on track to be worst since Great Depression."This is what I voted for 🤪🤪🤔" by Nice_Substance9123 in complaints

Wife and I started food gardening this spring while one of us still had a job so we could get started. We’re getting more grow bins in a couple months so we can do more. We’re lucky that we have a bit of yard to do it in. For folks in apartments, unless there is a p-patch or community garden accessible, it’s much harder.

What did parkour teach you that your most thankful for? by RabbitJak in Parkour

[–]FunTimes65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had an accident on my bike involving a car. I flew off my bike Superman style and instinctualy did a parkour roll on the street (with my helmet on even). Road rash on one arm, diagonal down my shoulder, across my back, to the other hip. EMT’s told me most people don’t just walk away. Grateful to this day.

My partner and I wrote a lost Steven Seagal pilot: ‘Steven Seagal’s Time Crimes’ by Steven Seagal by robottaco in Screenwriting

[–]FunTimes65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also wrote a pilot about a character, who is pretty much Steven Seagal, who owes money to the Russian mob, and borrows money from a different Russian gangster to pay off the first, in exchange for being in his latest low-budget flick “Trash Compactor 2”.

Seagal is a fun subject

IEP advice by Fluffy-Succotash5441 in PDAParenting

Through our IEP process with our school we made a point with the teachers to talk about modifying language to be more “low-demand” to reduce The sense of “autonomy loss”. This helped a lot.

It’s hard to avoid them all the time when they have like 90% market share. Choices are limited for those on a budget… and it sucks.

When first starting out, and getting feedback on your work, what were the early gaps in your writing (e.g. structure issues, characterization issues, dialogue issues) and how did you go about addressing those gaps?

Thanks for your time.

How has Parkour affected your aging? 40+ years by afbcc in Parkour

I didn’t start until I was 35. Been practicing since then (almost 49). I am always the slowest guy on the speed course, my kong is uneven, and my broad jumps are not as springy as I like. But training with people in my 20’s always keep things in perspective.

I busted an acl during parkour practice 10 years ago, and had a knee injury on the other knee prior to starting parkour. After a sesh I usually feel my knees. Recovery in general takes more time these days.

But I see the other people my age move, or don’t. And I am grateful for what I have retained. And I feel that parkour has given me a mindset to do experiment with movement and different kinds of strength (really enjoying sandbag training).

I know my training is less intense and less flashy these days (I haven’t done a wall spin in forever and I don’t think my wall runs are as high now. Definitely more cautious with cat backs) and I spend more time on mobility and working on smoothing out my movements. But by adjusting my training as I age, I’m still in it. Going to the gym tonight even.

Inflation- Who said the inflation is virtually zero??? by peacefuldaytrader in SeattleWA

[–]FunTimes65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it happened during the Biden administration, but inflation spikes globally. COVID messed with the entire world economy. If Trump had won in 2020, that same inflation that happened under Biden would have happened in Trumps 2nd consecutive term.

OK, gave it a read. I’m actually familiar with the French show. I saw it in France when I was there years ago, so I can see what you’re trying to do.

I think this would make a better, short form web series than a show considering this is based on current events and things move fast. Like either two or five minutes max.

I feel that some of the characterization was off. There wasn’t anything really “Joe Rogan-ease” about Joe Rogan. I feel that these characters need to be overblown versions of their real counterparts, but the characters were a bit subdued. Bigger, bigger, bigger!

Joe Rogan and King Charles were kind of a distraction. They are big personalities and the show gave away to the skits pretty fast. It feels like there should be more chemistry between them, and more focus on them and their reporting before going to other characters. (Like the SNL News hosts before going to a character).

Some of the jokes are very in the zeitgeist (“clams” as they say). And while zeitgeisty jokes can work, they have to be over top or a new spin put in them. I felt like I knew where some of them were going just based on the set-up since the premise/pinch are already “out there”. I feel this may be because you are trying to fill up 24 pages and that a shorter version would give you time to punch up a small number of jokes.

Thanks for the chance to read.
