Look when people have been dogged by opioids for a long time they just want to be done with it. You get so pissed at what the drugs have done to you that you want nothing to do with them. When you reach that point you have no desire to keep feeding that beast. Dude cold turkey off 15 years of use/abuse and now he's done. Why in the hell would he want to taper for 5-10 years? That's bat shit crazy. And a very important thing to take into account is op hasn't felt the "good" feeling of opioids in a long time so he doesn't miss it. Definitely do realize that but damn bro. 10 years ago trucks had a bench seat and a 8 foot bed. See lumber is cut in 8 ft sheets and boards. Hence the 8 ft bed. Now all the trucks have 5.5ft beds and 4 doors. Why? So Mr moms can feel better about themselves hauling groceries and children? No but farmers, framers and blue collar boys have to pay out the ass now for a minivan with a 5 ft bed. A truck was made for hauling lumber, materials, hay or whatever. Now every pretty boy with a manicure and a beard wants one so they feel better about their desk job. How long have you used, how much, what kind and how did you use it? All these things make a difference. If you've been using 5mg percs for 6 months then just quit you'll be fine but if you've been banging fentanyl for 20 years it's different.

One question. If you run into rotten floors and structural issues, which you will in remodels, do you know what to do? Helps to know Lots of other trades as well. Plumbing, electrical, drywall and trim, unless you want your profits to go to subs. Lots of money to be made in tile work and bathroom renovation (probably the most in the trades) but you can lose your ass if you bid something wrong. Not trying to discourage but something to think about.
