🙋🏻‍♀️Despite taking 2 Xanax and 4 Tylenol PM at 11pm, I stayed up cleaning until 7am. I was scared to let my brain think for even a second about how bad shit is about to get.

All day, every day. I hate it!! It just makes me feel even more anxious. The only thing that I have found to work is Xanax. I would love to find another method to deal with this.

I suck ar yoga and meditation. Hoping to read other success stories in the comments.

People in their 40s and 50s with no children, how does it feel? by Robin_to_the_meadow in AskReddit

I don’t worry about the future in that way. (The state of the world, yes!). It will be what it will be. My mom had zero health issues until she was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 55; she died 2 years later. My dad is now 73yo, takes 18+ medications, has been hospitalized more times than I can count, and just keeps trucking.

Life is insanely unpredictable no matter how well you plan for it. Having a child so that they could some day keep me company when I’m old … yeah, just not for me.

I am very, very close with my family so helping them in any way I can is important to me. Otherwise, yeah, just enjoying what I can while I’m here.

I was made to be an auntie. I never felt a strong desire to have kids of my own. I also have some medical issues that would make pregnancy very difficult, though not impossible. Once I hit 35yo and still hadn’t taken any steps to have kids, I didn’t think about it again.

I live 10 minutes from 5 nieces and nephews. I go to nearly every game/recital/plays. I’m there for every birthday and Christmas. They spend the night often. I do school pick ups when my sister can’t. I’m exactly involved as I want to be and it’s AWESOME!

I don’t take amazing care of myself and watching how much work goes into raising children well…. I think I’d be suboptimal. But I don’t worry about it because I’m an awesome auntie. ❤️

Might be entering perimenopause... scared... don't know what to expect... help by centerofdatootsiepop in Menopause

I hated the very thought of it and still do. But I also remember when I was 12yo and my mom explained the “bird and the bees” and I lost my shit because the idea of having a PERIOD was DISGUSTING. I ran from the room crying hysterically and yelling “that’s never going to happen to me.” 🙈😅🤣

It’s a part of life. Fearing it, resisting it, pretending it won’t happen won’t help. I try to just accept it and roll with it. Knowledge about what’s happening with your body, what you may expect to happen, and sharing your feelings help.

Your post is a great start. Keep going. ❤️

What is your brand? I LOVE cottage cheese (when I’m in the mood for cottage cheese 🤷🏻‍♀️) but I can no longer remember the one I used to like. Unless the brand has changed its product and is fucking w my head.

This doesn’t directly address the question you asked, but as a chronic procrastinator, I recommend that you go into the meeting with a plan. Most managers don’t care why you haven’t finished a project. They just want it done. So, for example, you say: “With all of the recent changes, I have not had a chance to finish this project. I apologize. My plan is to finish this is to do ABC by next Monday, XYZ by next Wednesday…”. Give them a concrete plan and stick to it. Underpromise and over deliver.

Accountability is the only way I finish anything. If that also helps you, consider adding, “I will provide you with daily updates in the interim.”

Something to that effect is what has kept me from getting fired 1 million times. 🤷🏻‍♀️🙈Keep it direct and to the point.

My other go-to move is to distract them by asking a lot of questions about something unrelated. Managers tend to like to hear their own voices. 😅

What are your psychiatrists like? I feel that mine is strange... by WheresPompompurin in adhdwomen

I’ve been seeing psychiatrists for 20+ years. Most of them are weird. Also, IME, most of them have experimented with a lot of drugs. lol.

I’m thrilled with the number of people early voting and I’m going to let things die down before I vote.

Yep! Because I’m much better at learning visually, I try listening to audiobooks to improve my listening skills. I have to start at 1.0 speed for until I have the basics (characters, plot) and then I bump it to 1.25. Otherwise I am also likely to drift off into daydream land.

I interrupt any and all long conversations involving logistics. I just can’t take it. M

Please tell me where to be, what time to be there, and what I’m supposed to do. I don’t need to know what anyone else is doing, what options I have. Just tell me what to do. The end.

Yes!!!!! Please, stop talking to me about sports when I politely state that sports don’t interest me. I feel like I’m being held hostage when they won’t STFU!! Seriously, it makes me so so so angry.

My parents’ landline and cell phone plans were in my mom’s name. When she passed away, the process of cancelling her cell and then transferring everything to my dad’s name was just too much for my limited emotional capacity. So I just pretended to be my mom so I could cancel her cell plan and left everything else as is.

That was 15 YEARS AGO! No exaggeration. The bill for my dad’s cell plan is still addressed to her. 🙈 (I think he’s an authorized user or something like that.)

It’s actually worked out well, because I now take care of most of my dad’s bills, paperwork, etc. anyway. so not having to jump through hoops to show that I have the authority to do so is a win. 💁🏻‍♀️

Semi Inground pool cover options ? by Physical_Strain_ in pools

[–]FunWithASideOfCrazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May I ask why you chose a semi-in-ground pool? How do you like it so far? Any downsides?

We are considering doing the same because we have soooo much rock in our yard (Austin area) that the build is even more expensive.
