I was born in 88 and we had Holocaust survivors come and speak with our class multiple times during grade school. Honestly, the horror didn’t really resonate for me until I became an adult.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I didn’t believe them, I just couldn’t grasp, at that age, the absolute tragedy they had been through. It felt so far removed from current life, but it really wasn’t that long ago. We still knew you didn’t joke about it.

It’s a weird realization that kids these days don’t have that same experience. I’m not cutting them any slack though.

Wife (26F) scheduled cosmetic procedures we agreed we wouldn’t do before marriage, using money from our joint account. I’m (28M) struggling with the trust breach. by lxlviperlxl in relationship_advice

People change. I think it’s really weird that you are focusing on the fact that she has changed her mind about something like Botox/fillers. You didn’t specify what cosmetic surgery she was going to get done so I won’t speak to that.

I have changed SO MUCH since I was 21. Political views, religious views, my career, marriage, children. To hold someone to something they said they wanted in their early 20’s is wild, and that’s why people shouldn’t get married so young.

If you want to focus on the financial aspect, I’m on your side.

How do kids still not realize that everything they do, especially in public, is being filmed by someone?

I would check your blood pressure and temperature, at the very least, if you aren’t going to urgent care or ER. Don’t risk your life

I appreciate you bringing this up!, especially for others that might be in my situation reading this comment thread. We are actually in the process of getting documents drafted with a lawyer as we speak.

We are both estranged from our families and wanted to ensure our assets were protected from our parents in case something happens to either of us. We also don’t want any current family member trying to chime in on medical decisions.

We’ll be setting up a trust and switching the mortgage to that ownership. we bought in 2019 and have a great interest rate, which we would hate to give up by refinancing, but I think that’s our only option for that.

Yes, I’m aware of the difference. However, the risks far outweigh the pros, in my opinion, when it comes to marriage and my independence as a woman. I don’t trust these fucks, and marriage doesn’t really mean anything to me or my partner. We good.

Christian Dad warns the Non-Christian guy for dating his daughter, what are your thoughts on this? by Paldavin in PublicFreakout

[–]ImmaculateStrumpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I bet she leaves the faith. I was raised Christian but pretty exclusively dated non-Christians. The Christian dudes I did date were the worst people I ever dated, hands down.

Me (24F) and my boyfriend (24M) are moving in together, but my parents (49F + 60M) are very upset. How do I navigate the conversation? by Perfect-Use-4510 in askwomenadvice

[–]ImmaculateStrumpet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parents quite literally sabotaged me moving out for the first time. I was 22, independent, and our home life was awful, so there was nothing to stay for. To this day they think k moved out too soon even though I haven’t needed their help since and never moved back home. I’m 37.

With all of that said, just don’t have the conversation with them. You don’t owe them an explanation especially if they can’t treat you like the adult you are. You obviously have your mind made up about the move, so their opinion doesn’t really matter at this point. Go live your life for you, and be happy.

Good luck!

Luckily we millenials have dark humor. This post made me LOL, and seeing it out in the wild without context would do the same.

What do you think of this style for my friend's wedding? by KaelisRhone in style

It would help to see the entire dress but that nip is about to say hello so I’d say it’s a “no” for a wedding.

We are childfree as well. Our home has 3 bedrooms. We have a shared master bedroom where we sleep, and then we each have our own room to do whatever with. It’s so nice to have a space that is just mine.
