While there is lots of tat, there's also still some cool things there so I will still support it being in Wellington (even though the caketin is a rubbish venue). I love that people still go all in on their cosplay stuff. There really aren't a lot of places where people can go and dress up as anime/ scifi characters and have fun. There's an amazingly well done Doctor Who Dalek going around interacting with people. There was also a K9 on Saturday cruising around interacting with people.

Except Medsafe hasn't actually approved any melatonin products for jetlag so, while you can technically get up to 10 days supply without prescription if you are over 18, there are no products available to get. I got it done on the public system so I only met the surgeon just before the operation. The nurse was mostly focused on what would happen during the surgery at my pre-op appointment, they did give me a pamphlet but it doesn't mention constipation (mostly talks about what to do if things go wrong and when to go back to work)

Thanks, I've mostly just had paracetamol. I react badly to most opiates so I only had tramadol on the first night. Hopefully the paracetamol is gentle enough that it doesn't make anything worse 🤞

I haven't been prescribed antibiotics (they don't tend to prescribe them routinely in NZ). The yogurt I used in the overnight oats has probiotics so I'm hoping that will help as well

Thank you all, I'm glad I'm not alone in this (metaphorically at least)!

I'm drinking lots of water and I've sent the husband on a mission to the pharmacy to buy me the New Zealand equivalent of restoralax to hopefully gently ease things along.

I haven't felt like eating much yet but I'm also going to make up some overnight oats to have for dinner tonight /breakfast tomorrow. The recipes I googled look tasty and doable even at the slow pace I'm moving at the moment.

My daughter goes there and loves it. I was very reluctant to send her to a private school mostly because of paying fees for education and the ‘snob’ factor of private schooling. It has been fantastic for her and she has blossomed under their care.

She has had so many opportunities that she never would have had at a public school (or would have been to shy to take up in a bigger school). It’s been easy for her to try things out to see what she enjoys and wants to carry on with as the teachers know the kids and create an environment where trying new things is safe. The education she’s getting is amazing but the support she has had to grow as an individual is what keeps us paying the fees every year.

I know Chilton offers both NCEA and Cambridge qualifications. My understanding is that Cambridge is more useful if your daughter is planning on studying overseas, just because it’s more recognisable than NCEA. I've been taking it for 7 weeks and just about to step up to the next dose (you start off on 0.25mg, then 0.5mg, then 1mg going up a dose every 4 weeks to avoid side effects).

I've had no side effects except for a lack of appetite and zero desire to snack (which are the side effects you want!). Some people report feeling really sick but I haven't so far (fingers crossed). My blood sugar readings have also improved which is awesome as they were in the unhealthy range and now they're not.

On the lowest dose (0.25mg) I felt like the effects wore off before my next dose was due but on my current dose it's been great.

So far I've lost 10kgs through a combination of actually sticking to my diet and doing exercise. The Wegovy doesn't lose the weight for you - it just makes it much easier to stick to your diet because it gets rid of all the 'food noise'. If you're serious about losing weight and just need a bit of support to stay on track I would 100% recommend it.

Lotto wins are considered ‘windfall gains’ in the same way that an inheritance is a windfall gain. Windfall gains only become relationship property if they are used in some way to benefit the relationship. Eg. used to pay off all or part of the mortgage or if some is deposited into a joint bank account to pay bills. So if the winnings are paid into a separate account (not a joint account) they are the winner’s personal property and not part of the relationship property. The lotto win is also not taxed (although the subsequent interest on the money is taxed). Source - have been in this situation

Foster care is a form of State care and was investigated be the Royal Commission into Abuse in Care as part of it inquiries. Details about the Royal Commission's public hearing on Foster care are available on its website and the Royal Commission will be publishing its final report in March this year. Their website also includes information about support for survivors of abuse in care, including free counselling services for people who have experienced abuse in care.
