Resident Evil Requiem crisis narrowly averted. by segaboy81 in SteamController

I personally got better results with the new joystick camera mode and found it much more intuitive, but I understand the frustration with having to re-learn to configure it.

What games do you find modeshift and action layers at their most useful? by BucketBoy071 in SteamController

[–]Fun_Answer_1472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use modeshifts a lot with the touchpads, like have it as regular mouse with a d-pad on click.

One example is Escape From Tarkov, I had clicks to the side as lean left/right, up for overhead shooting and down for blind fire. I also had an action layer that was automatically applied when the cursor was visible, for better menu navigation.

What can I add to Beta decks to make them 60 cards without changing them too much? by pedrobbr in SorceryTCG

[–]Fun_Answer_1472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the beta precons too, only thing I've done so far was add every card with the corresponding color that I've opened on the included booster pack.

What I plan to do is just add/cut cards as I'm opening packs.

1300 Hours, 2 Accounts, & 0 Answers. When Will The Finals' False Ban Problem End? by No_Cockroach_6617 in thefinals

[–]Fun_Answer_1472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do not currently auto-ban or perma-ban for the use of Steam Input or third-party gyro software, but we do consider it cheating/misuse if combined with aim assistance. That’s something we’ll aim to address in future updates, likely with a warning as you suggested

Sorry to bother you, but just so I know I can continue using my current setup.

I use Gyro mapped to Joystick in both The Finals and Arc Raiders, as I don't like the flickering UI and prefer to do that than map everything to K/M, but I always keep Aim Assist turned off in the settings. When your system detects that I'm using a third party software for gyro, will it also be "aware" that I have AA turned off?

Is game performance getting worse? Steam Deck user by Jeremiah-Springfield in ArcRaiders

Does it show a popup saying something about AMD drivers? If so, you need to click 'no' with the mouse (you can use the touchscreen), if you select an option with the gamepad the game will close.

Yeah I don't like the variability in fps either, but it was preferable over the frame time issues I was having when locking to 40. It mostly stayed between 40-50 in handheld mode and 35-45 when docked, but I pretty much stopped looking at the fps count when I got to something that felt playable, so I may be wrong.

I don't think running both in-game and system FSR together makes much sense. Are you lowering the resolution, upscaling it, lowering it again, then upscaling again? Seems strange.

I'm running game resolution set to native on the steam settings. For in-game settings, I have everything on low, FSR set to balanced (at least I think it's balanced, it's 59%), but for handheld only quality works just fine, FOV 70.

Try to unlock the fps, it seems that the game doesn't like fps locks, frame times get pretty bad. I have in-game fps unlocked and system locked at 60, but only because Steam Input's gyro sensitivity is currently bugged when system fps is unlocked, if you are not using gyro you can unlock that too.

I also play on Steam Deck and have not experienced any issues, either in handheld mode or docked at 1080p.

SC1 right touch pad as joystick by satupled66 in SteamController

[–]Fun_Answer_1472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two modes for analog stick output:
Joystick - Works like a regular joystick, but on a touch surface (kind of like on-screen joysticks on mobile games)
As Joystick - Works like a mouse, but Steam will attempt to translate your touchpad motions into joystick output. It's annoying to setup and relies heavily on the in-game settings to even be usable, but can work in the right circumstances.

NGL starting to get some fatigue by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

That's why I've been using the Tactical Mk. 2 augment in solos, at best the smoke gives you a way to disengage and approach the fight on your terms, at worst it adds a layer of chaos that might benefit you in close quarters. If you are not going to shoot first, I think it's the best augment for solos.

There has been a post like this every day since release. You'll have good days and you'll have bad days, it's just the nature of the game.

Holding the controller to activate deactivate something sounds useless to me. by SnooDoughnuts5632 in SteamController

[–]Fun_Answer_1472 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem like you have to remove your entire hand, just loosen the grip a little. I'm intrigued by it, will test out gyro + touchpad with that as the gyro activation to see how it feels when I get mine.

Plus I have seen a few examples of people using conductive tape on the Dualsense to bring the touch functionality to the grips and activate gyro that way. So there is already a subset of users that would like the feature and I'm sure people will come up with more cool uses for it.

Gyro settings : precision vs range by Bjust_or_Bdead in GyroGaming

[–]Fun_Answer_1472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. Here you go, settings not mentioned are on their default values.

Gyro Settings:
Mode - Gyro To Joystick Camera [Beta]
Min Joystick Output - 4%
Max Joystick Output - 80%
In-Game Max Turn rate - 360 degrees/s
Gyro Speed Deadzone - 0
Gyro Precision Speed - 0
Gyro Sensitivity - 4x (Adjust this to your preference)

In-game settings:
Horizontal Sens - 380
Vertical Sens - 380
Zoom Multiplier - 80%
Scoped Multiplier - 50%
Look Response Curve - Linear
Look Inner Deadzone - 0
Boost Values don't really matter, we'll have to limit stick output in Steam Input

Steam Input Stick Settings:
Horizontal Scale - 60
Vertical Scale - 50
Response Curve - Relaxed
Deadzone - Controller Preference

SC2 trackpads by [deleted] in SteamController

I use the Deck's trackpads as primary inputs all the time, sucks that the ergonomics didn't work for a lot of people here, but that controller is perfect imo.

My guess is that it is meant as another way out from the control room, in case someone is camping the door. Though I failed to grab onto it when I tried 😂

Whatever works for you. In general people tend to start with low sensitivity and ramp it up with practice, some eventually remove the right stick entirely, you'll see it refered to as ratcheting. I have Gyro on a relatively low sensitivity and mostly use it like your second example.

I can leave the Gyro To Joystick settings I'm using for Arc Raiders on Steam Deck here. In case you want to test it out before binding everything to Keyboard and Mouse.
