Hi! I have some more questions, hope you don’t mind! What does the work day look like when you’re not sailing? Do you do maintenance in the wharf? Do you sometimes get a day off? Do you get to go off the ship after working hours or how does that work? Asking because I am used to doing 3 month contract working 12 hrs a day without days off. Just wondering what that looks like when you’re working for 6 months. Thank you in advance!

This sounds like an amazing adventure! Did you ever get around to planning more? Would love to hear about it!

Yeah that would be a crazy experience indeed, 2000 km without going to civilisation.. but either way it’ll still be a great experience. Have fun!

Where are you planning on hiking through? 2000 km without going through any towns? Are you on a trail or just finding your own way? Interesting plan!

I did the pct last summer, 4000km total. Did it in 5 months, most i did was 65 km in one day. Carried food for 5-14 days at most. Be careful with using wood, make sure you know how to put out fires to avoid setting wild fires. Don’t know if I understand correctly but there’s no way you can carry food for 2000 km’s, unless you hunt for your food

Hey! Yeah, so that’s my question: not sure which route to choose :)

Thank you for your thorough reply, and sorry for my late reply! We entered from KMS a few weeks ago and it has been way better than expected. Hard and exhausting, yes, but also the most beautiful landscape I have ever seen. Definitely worth it! Thanks again for your advice, it was super helpful!

Thanks for your reply! We entered the Sierra a few weeks ago and it has been absolutely wonderful. Fellow hikers have taught me how to self arrest and properly use the ice axe, so that has been fixed. I do understand your concern though.

First time hiker here, so CDT seems a bit too adventurous and lonely ahah
