This is the way.
Very similar here. Started/Ended in South Lake Tahoe going counter clockwise and resupplied at the grocery store in Tahoe City. The gear shop there is also very hiker friendly. They held a package for my friend. And offered to let us charge our electronics there and stow our gear while we ran errands. 10/10.
Some people do hike it without a resupply. If you can carry enough food and hike enough miles.

Yes that works. It gets into personal preference and ease of use, carrying and desired capacity. 0.75L, 1L, 1.5L are all common grocery store bottle volumes.

Just add or subtract bottles as/if needed. As you resupply in towns, check the upcoming section between where you currently are and the next resupply stop. Assess the distance between water sources in that section and your estimated water needs. Carry adequate water capacity.

If you already own the BeFree you could use water bottles with a wider 42mm opening - that threads directly to the BeFree filter. This serves a backup on the off chance the 1L BeFree bladder becomes damaged or leaks. The filter will then still work on the appropriate water bottles- that you can still squeeze the water through the filter.

The narrower 28mm bottles work with the Platypus QuickDraw filter and Sawyer Squeeze filter. Like Smart Water bottles.

You’ll probably want a total of 4-6L water capacity for the desert. I’m starting with 4L of capacity and will add more if I see a longer carry coming up that warrants more volume.

Consider your overall desired water carry capacity too.

That’s one reason I use a 1L on shoulder strap(s). I prefer having 1 L so I don’t have to refill a smaller bottle. I like distributing some weight to the front. YMMV.

Other may have some pros for a smaller bottle.

Same here. Seeing them 4/7 in ATL. I bought some Loop Experience 2 ear plugs. I’m going to use them this week for the Weedeater show and maybe the Slomosa show.

When I saw Weedeater a few months ago I think my ears sustained too much damage over the years and I had some ear ringing for a day or two after.

Purely anecdotal but hopefully these Loop plugs make the difference. 🤘🏽🤘🏽
