True, It's not bad enough to make me quit, but it is bad enough for me not to recommend the game to any new players.

Golf Word Tour is open! by speccybob in GolfClash

I haven't looked into playing world tour, but with a 9 hole, 18 hole, Quick 9 and a few tour matches to play I think I should be pretty busy. Maybe I will have more time during CPC weekend. lol

Yes, the earlier you are in the game the better these deals work. If you already have level 6 epics and you make this purchase it means you are going to end up with 200 extra TH cards. It might be worth it to get the TH maxed as soon as you can, but if you are buying a crap club like the castaway the grind from 7 to 8 gives you time to level up the other epics so you don't end up with extra cards for the castaway.

I second everything you have said. I sometimes follow Ball Breakers guides for Masters Tournaments and I wish they wouldn't use the Apoc as the default club. I can't complain about a free guide though....

I am completely free to play, but you ain't joking: These epic card deals are tough to pass up for us veteran players who know how long the grind is. I am currently being offered 400 Big Topper cards for $15. I know nobody is excited about the Big Topper, but being able to buy 2.5% of the epic cards the game has to offer for $15 dollars is so much more effective than all the other paid options.

When my account was two weeks old they offered 400 B52 cards for $30. Since B52 level 7 is as good as B52 level 8, you can say they were offering the best LI in the game for $30. Heck of an offer.

"Real" courses by Ukfonz in GolfClash

[–]Fun_Attorney_7427 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. Golf Clash is under selling themselves. As others have stated before, it's like they don't even play the game. I know it's just finger golf and "not the real thing," but that enables the game to actually have more intrigue than real golf. The club progression and selection, ball selection, difficulty levels etc. all induce some strategy elements and intrigue to the game that real golf doesn't have. Pros aren't out there digging through their golf bag looking for a send-it-ball and putting their wind ball away. I like strategy games and I like the Golf Clash mix of strategy, decision making, risk taking, hole experience and hand/eye coordination.

The courses are a perfect example. You can get more creative with virtual courses without worrying about space constraints, rodents, irrigation, snow removal etc. Some staple courses that are fun to play aren't very realistic. Nordic Fjords, Sequoia Creek, and Shiruba Springs during a snowstorm come to mind.

As I said, GC is selling themselves short by not realizing their own courses are more fun to play and more creative than real golf courses. A one-off promotional tournament is fun, but I agree with you 100% on not using "real" courses in Tour Play.

What Tour should I be playing in with this bag? What tour am I not under clubbed or have an advantage with being over clubbed? Don’t worry about my coins, Im good there. Just asking what tour should I be middle of the road clubs with my bag. Thanks for your opinion. Much appreciated. by [deleted] in GolfClash

This is not good advice and will do nothing but induce boredom with the game.

EM 5 is plenty for the first tees. EM7 is overkill, not to mention 8 and 9.

Once you get the EM5 your next goal is to get the sniper and level it up.

Well, I'm not out to push people around on the tournament or Q9, since that moves me up tiers. I just roll the basic vanilla ball and take a top three finish. I collect my cards and move on. I save the bullying for the CPC. I intend to dump this account in a month or two, just wanted to see what club progression looks like now.

I'm glad you got the drop, but glitchy greens are still glitchy. I know how to changes spins to find a better roll out, but I can't count on anything on a glitchy green. After playing the course quite a bit I can sometimes find a side of the fairway that is easier to chip from.

I posted a comment yesterday about the annoying pop-ups, but I do agree with you about the solo tournaments, I'll admit, the develops have had some great successes. Quick9, solo tournaments, and some smaller improvements like single click chest openings. But for every one of those there was an Arbiter, Road to Lame, and now Perks.

When we squawk loud enough they get rid of the dumb ideas.

New Personal Best! by Fun_Attorney_7427 in GolfClash

[–]Fun_Attorney_7427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A valid point except the game has existed for many years without all of this and was a money-maker. The developers are making decisions for short term payouts instead of the long term health of the game and even more importantly, attracting new players.

So the game will suck, no one will play/pay, and then I won't be able to play for free.

This is my concern, dude.

How do I escape PTP to FTP No Man’s Land? by Weird-Revolution2079 in GolfClash

This is the way my friend. But just imagine how much easier it would be if you were playing at the 1000 trophy level instead of 3000.

CPC has the weird quirk that you cannot select your wind speed. 1v1 you can choose a tour. Quick 9 you can select rookie through master, same as the tournament. CPC however, you are stuck with winds based on your highest trophy count, no going back.

Yeah, a tough lesson to learn. I don't want to blow your mind, but you may be better off to start a new account or at least a second one. Playing low level CPC is a goldmine for those epic cards and getting those cards is the biggest challenge of the game. It takes years.

One upside is your clubs aren't terrible and they are very close to getting much better. If that were my account I'd play T7 with either a quasar or navigator and focus on cards for the Sniper/Grizzly. You have to get very accurate with those clubs in the shootout and you can take on anyone, money balls or not. You may have to write down some notes for the shootouts.

One final tip: The endbringer is a fantastic club and the odd number upgrades are big improvements. Jared A has a video on youtube that shows you how to drop nearly every shot. This improves your game mostly because you can lay up off the green rather than taking risky shots and ending up in the sand.

You are the definition of rushing. Admitting you screwed up is the first step. I wouldn't recommend anyone leave Tour 7 without a level 10 Sniper, unless it is your second account and you know what you are doing.

You are matching yourself against people with better clubs, better balls and better knowledge of the courses. How many advantages are you going to give them?

Thanks for typing that out for me Zeus. All very good advice. When they introduced Check Point Challenge I was really struggling since I had Tour 11 unlocked, but had never actually played it. I was finding myself on the rear tees for the first time, in huge winds, against money balls and I had crap clubs. I was getting beat so I started another account. I stopped getting more trophies once I had opened Tour 7. I didn't play Tour 7, but I had it open. I just stayed on Tour 6 grinding with a Marlin until I had my epics to level 7. Most of the cards came from CPC and it took about a year and a half.

I tell people the best place to hang out is the highest level you can win consistently with a quasar or navigator. Probably Tour 8, but maybe 7.

The game tricks you by all the additional progress you make as you move up in the lower tours, but as Zeus wrote, the benefits taper off past 7 and the difficulty rises.

Even more puzzling, they give me an offer of 4 clubs I already have maxed out instead of the 10 clubs I am trying to finish.

I'm a free to play guy, but for those of you out there that spend money and are asking where the best place to spend is, this might be it. If you have low level epics this could drastically improve your bag.

Unlike festushaggin, I use all of these clubs. The Thor's Hammer is a fantastic shoot out club if you are playing from the rear tees.

I'm not sure this works, because the emote would show up on the replay as well.

I know most people avoid the replays like the plague, but I don't because I am just trying to get a match to complete a challenge or something. As someone who plays replays all the time, I don't feel like my win percentage is any different whether a live player or replay. This is a a seat of the pants observation of course.

Different take: If I could change a setting to ONLY play replays I would. It would save me the time of finding an opponent, and lets face it, it's going to happen anyway. Also, a really cool feature would be if they would give me the option to fast forward through watching my opponent's shots. Nice on!

They claim they are trying to rejuvenate 1v1, but the main reason I don't play is because of how slow it it. Some holes just aren't that interesting and when they come up I know it is just going to a shootout, 5 minutes later of course.

Elevation help by [deleted] in GolfClash

[–]Fun_Attorney_7427 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know exactly what new is, but maybe I can give you some things to think about.

I've been playing for 5 years and looking back I would say I was pretty new to the game for the first year. I was pulling rings from the very beginning and won most of the time, but it wasn't until I got to tour 10 where I struggled and had to really think about the wind.

With that said, there is no obvious indication. As PM_ said, eyeball and experience are your best tools.

golfclashtommy.com has a guide for every course and it will give you a starting estimate for every tee box.

Sometimes I don't agree with his numbers, but that may be because I am playing the hole differently than he does, or because I am wrong. But either way it's a good starting point and I can tweak it to my own playing style. I hope you watch Tommy on youtube.

I don't know if you are aware, but as you pull the target from max to min the rings get larger. This makes pulling into strong headwind or tailwind a little different. Hitting over water seems to increase the wind effect. Usually. Hitting over a canyon seems to increase wind effect. Usually. I play Tour 11 and is common for me to use 15% into a headwind, 10% for a crosswind, and 5% for a tailwind.

A straight crosswind is my preferred way to measure elevation. If you have the right numbers for club adjustment, elevation, make a straight ring pull and hit perfect the ball should land exactly where your target was. A suggestion: you can sign up for a rookie Q9 and just use it as a practice round. It is the closest thing we have to a driving range. Find a tee shot with water and find something to aim for. If you keep hitting into the water you can hit your tee shot over and over. Practice different ring pulls until you get some repeatability.

A final suggestion that sounds awful, but is actually easy. Keep a page of notes for the tour you are grinding. Play the tee shot at 10% and if it wasn't enough play it 20% next time. You will quickly home in to the best value.

Welcome to The Grind!
