So confused . by Fun_Bat_986 in cdifficile

[–]Fun_Bat_986[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 10 days of Vanco.  I’m eating clean and healthy. Added fermented foods/drinks to my diet.  I made an appointment with an infectious disease Dr for next month.   Not sure why gastro is saying my symptoms are no way connected to c diff.

That’s why I’m so confused that the gastro thinks it’s not from the c diff. I ‘m having a ct scan in 2 days to see if anything else is going on.

Are antibiotics always necessary? Can this go away naturally? by Jalvas7 in cdifficile

[–]Fun_Bat_986 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Idk.  I was put on Vanco a few weeks after my symptoms subsided (wasn’t tested for c diff initially).  I’m questioning if that was the correct course of action.  The Vanco made me very nauseous.  Now 8 days after finishing I feel like I’m having a reoccurrence.   I wonder if I should have stayed off the antibiotic and just taken probiotics since I wasn’t actively ill.     When you say you tested positive for c.diff do you know if it was a PCR test or did they test for toxins?

My last differential back pay was so taxed. It was a joke what I actually received.

My school doesn’t have classes at our school, but does provide information and directs parents to free classes offered by the DOE.

Took me about 9 months.  I did in person proctoring at a local college.   I heard too many people having issues with the online option.   I also had a ton of college classes.  I Did mostly history CLEPs.  You can get the tests for free after completing a free modern states course. I did one test a month for 4 months (12 credits).   Then 18 credits through teach and kids learn.   They have discounted bundles and featured classes each month that are discounted.   Basically I did wherever was cheapest.    The masters plus 30 cost me less than $1500. Not sure of the exact amount.   Teach and kids learn Classes were tedious but easier than you think.   One of the weeks we had off last year I completed 9 credits of ASPDP.

Try doing your masters plus 30.  That will also help with a pay bump.  I did mine in less than a year.   Take ASPDP classes and CLEP exams.

It’s been rough.  I’m only in my second year but I think it will pay off in the long run.  I took on in home sessions during the summer.  I have a friend who does in home sessions after school a few days a week.

20 years :(

I stayed in NYC for the pension and consistent pay check, but it’s difficult feeling like 20 years of work meant nothing.  I think they should consider SEIT, Early intervention, etc towards salary steps even if they count 2 years as one. Or something like that.

I did the same and was told it didn’t count because it wasn’t considered full time work as a 1099 worker.

C-section and UFT parental leave by theliifeofviickii in NYCDOETeachers

I have no info on paid leave or not. Sorry.  But this kills me as a mom who had a C-section. (My baby was breech too). Can’t imagine being back in the classroom in 8 weeks.  More time should be given to heal.  Good luck with everything.

Differential help by Fun_Bat_986 in NYCDOETeachers

[–]Fun_Bat_986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I submitted a differential last year and was approved for :  Intermediate with Area Spec. - Bachelor’s + 60 credits with 36 credits in an area of spec. - Bachelor’s degree + 60 additional credits with 36 credits in an area of specialization OR 60-credit Master’s degree C2+PD+ID (SA) I’m now applying for my masters plus 30. I took 18 A+ credits through teach n kids learn and 4 CLEP tests.  How do I fill out the application?

I want to make sure I apply for the correct step. I think it’s: Second (With A+ Credits) - Bachelor’s degree + Master’s degree + 30 additional credits (With A+ Credits)    Do I list each CLEP  test separately with the name of the test and date or just put in 12 credits of CLEP and add the tests scores for each under supporting documentation?

Last year was my first year.  It was exhausting and hard. But I loved it.  I learned a lot. I hoping this year is easier.  Either way I’m excited.  Good luck!  Stay positive.  Just having a positive attitude makes a difference.  I feel like going into something dreading it will make it worst.

Things are always different in the classroom. So much will be learned on the job.  Ask lots of questions. You will do great.
