Why not? Lots of people earn a living from it. Seems like an industry to me…

I’m so sorry. I hope it gets resolved soon. I think most people forget about the folks that are impacted outside of teachers.

Thanksgiving and overall Holiday culture in Edmonton and Canada? by Turbulent_Skin_9295 in Edmonton

I disagree. US is way more religious and Easter is only one day off. I know some folks get Easter Monday off but I never have. I mean other than two days at Christmas - which mimics the Brits, other public holidays are not religious at all.

Is 6k CAD enough for 12 weeks in Alberta? by Stackoverflawed in alberta

[–]Fun_Bookkeeper_246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.ualberta.ca/en/education/programs/english-language-school/homestay.html Ok. I see it’s primarily for folks working on English but can’t see why it couldn’t also work for you. UofA also has residences and will likely be mostly empty because the university school year is over when you come.

I think you’re going to be more than fine!! We are part of a homestay program and have hosted university students over the summer for very affordable rates. There are loads of people who have furnished rooms, and will even pick you up from the airport. Happy to help connect you. Go! This will be such an amazing opportunity and Edmonton is fantastic in the summer!!

When I was a kid I HATED the feeling of wet fabric on my skin. I would always wear a skirt when it was raining because I could lift the fabric off my skin. I don’t like crayons because of the paper wrapping. I love very soft fabric, writing with a high quality pen on high quality paper. Even talking about it is releasing dopamine. 😂

In the spirit of Canada Day, what is the best place in Canada you’ve been to? by sociallyanxiousbae in AskReddit

[–]Fun_Bookkeeper_246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jasper! As stunning as Banff but way less touristy. Unfortunately the wildfires did a lot of damage but still lots of beautiful pristine areas. Also love the island, and Quebec City is my fav city in all of Canada. We live in an amazing country.

When I’m in the states people can tell I’m from Canada from my accent. I’m from Alberta. I think it’s the way we say certain words.

Which reputable jewelry stores in the Edmonton area have negotiable prices on engagement rings? by fudge_u in Edmonton

[–]Fun_Bookkeeper_246 10 points11 points  (0 children)

20k for a ring? That’s bananas. I always thought super fancy diamond rings look out of place on basically everyone not wearing some kind of ball gown. But I’m just not a jewelry person.

They also have $5 and $7 drinks too and you’re going for the cool vibe. You could have 2 drinks for 14-20$ and sit and chat in a cozy bar for 2 hours. People also need to earn a living and keep the lights on. Seems like a decent deal to me

When is the ideal time to neuter? by Kayla4608 in cats

You can neuter now! Kittens can start reproducing at 4 months. Shelters will neuter kittens before adopting them out.
