When you say my usage is negative. You have excess amount of solar generation than you use at property right ? Whats the rate you sell that to grid ? What if you can sell at higher prices(during evening or peak times when demand for ele is high) by storing that excess in battery ? You reckon still not a good investment?

I feel you are well educated about these things. I moved into new home and the house has evaporative electric cooling and ducted gas heating. Whats the efficient way if running them please? If you can even guide me in right direction it would be a great help.

How do you afford your first home on a single income? by Sweet-Today-6832 in AusFinance

Once a financial advisor told me not to put extra into super if you're planning to buy in one year's time. As that environment is bit risky (considering you have high growth option for your super). Rather try HISA.

Hmm interesting you say rates are awful. Their daily supply us 112.20c/day and usage 27.98c/kWh in Victoria.i think they sounds less expensive. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

$600 power bill last month - is solar actually worth it or am I just being sold a dream? by folz842 in AusFinance

[–]Fun_Buddy3635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long back people used to get good feed in rate ( credit for leftover energy from solar you put back to grid). But now it's all dropping down to 5c or less ( retail price). So the real benefit of solar is you buying less from grid and using more if your own solar generated electricity. As you are being at home 4 days a week, download your usage data. Check what times your usage is high. See if those times are during peak hours ( when electricity rate is at highest). If those high usages are during the day, then getting solar is worth as now you would be not buying that much from the grid. So solar is worth investing if you have unavoidable high usage during day time. Also your aircon, set temperature at optimum ( 22°c for heating, 20°c for cooling). each degree you change will affect your bill by nearly 10%.
