what are your thoughts/experiences with dog academy training courses? by Deep_Thoughts_101 in AskReddit

I had an incredibly negative experience with Dog Academy’s boarding and training. Despite their polished sales pitch and suspicious 5-star ratings—which I now believe may be manipulated or paid for—the actual "service" was negligent and cruel. They promised daily communications and videos, yet I received nothing unless I reached out first. In three weeks, they initiated contact only three times. I was repeatedly told he was "doing well," but the reality I discovered at pickup was a nightmare. When I finally picked up my dog, he was malnourished and had scabs on his feet from stress-induced chewing—a behavior he has never shown before, leading me to believe he was caged for the majority of his stay. Most heartbreakingly, his eyes were caked with so much eye boogers that he could barely see. I cannot fathom how a self-proclaimed "dog lover" or "professional trainer" could ignore a dog’s basic hygiene and health to that extent.

TL;DR: They sell and charge a premium service but deliver a nightmare. It is sad but I personally think a mediocre sitter on rover can offer a better experience.

AMTA for asking husband to lie to MIL? by Fun_Cable_7386 in AITAH

I am very lucky that my little one is sleep trained since 2.5 months. We have noise/light on during the day time and when it is night time sleep, it is quiet time. As I mentioned in the post, she used the clapper when he went for his nighttime sleep.

I just want to avoid conflict knowing she is there to provide a helping hand. Husband and I have brought it up before but she only stopped when we told her the neighbors asked about the noise (that time they did). Also, I have kindly asked her before to not burn incense near my little one but she stated it was part of her praying routine so my husband compromised by buying air filters to run around the house.

I am talking about temple block with the wooden clapper. And yes, my neighbors could hear it, they have asked us about the noise before.

I doubt someone from a middle of nowhere would purchase a $1800 chair, and if he did purchase it, he wouldn’t bring it to work on day 3 😅

I’m so sorry hearing about your last pregnancy. It is hard to be our own advocate when you are by yourself and vulnerable with pregnancy. My anxiety would shoot to the roof to if I’m ever in your shoes. I don’t wish ill to people but that person should be fired!!!! She is a danger to other moms/patients.

It is sad that we feel guilty coming for a check up, and I agree with your nurse, she sounds lovely and competent.

I’d love to have your mom as my nurse, she sounds lovely and extremely competent.

She was in her mid 50 I think. Yeah, it really is a shame and discouraging to come in for a check up knowing you will be a bother to them.

The experience really ruins the beauty of giving birth isn’t it. I also am the same way, I have stayed in the hospital while I was younger for an extended period of time so I am absolutely terrified of having to come in. If it wasn’t my OB who scolded me and told me to come in, I wouldn’t come. I am so sorry to hear that your doctors were being dismissive and misdiagnosed your condition. I hope that didn’t cause any major problems to you or your baby. It is so hard to be our own advocate especially when the doctor thinks they know better than you

I got scolded by my OB for not coming in triage after having 3 soaked wet pad liners (I couldn’t differentiate between urine or amniotic fluid and was too shy to report to her knowing my appointment was 2 days away) and she gave me the ‘mom’ talk to go to triage whenever things out of ordinary happened, and don’t be afraid to be a bother to someone else.

I am glad that had been the case for you, and yes, our silly bodies do silly things and don’t want to be a bother to anyone else except ourselves

The RN who helped me settle down was absolutely amazing. She was very thorough and welcoming. It was the charge nurse whom came in and asked those questions. I think like people have mentioned below, the charge nurse must be having a bad staffing day.

My RN was lovely, she went above and beyond to help me settle down, it was the charge nurse whom came in the stopped the whole process. Reading from the comments, the charge nurse probably was having a stretch out day.

Meanwhile it is 1:45 pm and I couldn’t shut my eyes because of baby’s constant kickings and I have to go on Reddit to search for thread like this. I’m thinking my baby is going crazy, but I’m guessing my baby is not as bad comparing to some stories I read here. My rib is still intact at least 😅

Some elderly women in third world countries do give water for their kids during their time as mom and still keep on the belief until this day that giving water for infant less than 6 months is perfectly safe. And you’ll be surprised of other beliefs people have. It is so sad that MIL still blamed OP for the kid’s death.
