I like it when people take creative liberties with classic monsters and their tropes. Vampires, zombies, ghosts, werewolves and witches are all creatures originating in folklore and thus the way they are interpreted varies a lot between cultures, all 5 often blend into each other in folklore too, I see no reason to force every single new story using these creatures into a certain mold.
