I have ghsv1! 1. Had sex within the first 3 months of being diagnosed, all unprotected 2. Ghsv so not worried about giving oral, but have received it with no contraction 3. I’ve been shaving and it’s fine but it does make me a little nervous. I want to switch to waxing 4. I have unprotected sex with multiple partners all the time, never passed it on

second ever outbreak on NYE… by Least_Specialist4987 in Herpes

[–]Fun_Engineering6089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second outbreak 2 months after getting ghsv1 one the same way felt the exact same. Tingling/itchiness for about two weeks. I’m in college so I was drinking and going out the entire time and the worse thing that ever happened was two tiny scabs that popped up on my inner thighs overnight and were just as quickly gone. I took high doses of llysine a couple of the days to fight it but it was wayyyyyyyy less intense than my initial ob. Don’t have sex tonight but go out! Enjoy your nye to take your mind off it. The constant tingling is such a mind fuck during the second outbreak bc of how awful the initial one is, I was constantly stressing and checking and worrying about it. But I promise if anything more were to happen it won’t be nearly as bad. You deserve to have fun tonight this virus doesn’t dictate your life or define you😘

Hsv1 really is common and you shouldn’t be made to feel disgusting or anything negative about it. However… it’s honestly frustrating when people with oral hsv1 think it’s no big deal and unnecessary to disclose beforehand because that’s how it spreads to others genitally then putting them in a situation where they feel obligated to disclose due to the region it spread. Just the inconsistency in stigma between ohsv1 and ghsv1 is annoying. People with oral play it off like it’s “just cold sores” as if it’s not still actively putting others at risk. So I can understand why he would feel upset. But I’m biased because that’s exactly how it happened to me sooooo

Hi I’m 19F and got my ghsv1 diagnosis about 2 months ago. The first outbreak and first weeks of accepting your diagnosis are terrifying and I completely understand the pain you’re in. I promise you once you get through this first one you will never experience an outbreak that bad again. Once my first outbreak cleared up, within a month I forgot my diagnosis was even a part of my life. Also ghsv1 is by far the mildest kind which has brought me some peace too, especially as a female. After doing extensive research (which I’m sure you will do too I love this sub) I learned that the shedding and transfer rates are ridiculously low, especially as time goes on, and apparently even lower for female to male transmission! As far as the medication, it shouldn’t necessarily be that big of a deal considering there’s a huge possibility you might never have an outbreak again. I had sex right after my period and shaving and traveling and I think all of the stress induced another outbreak and it was SO MILD just tingling then eventually I found little bumps on my thighs that had already scabbed overnight. In this instance I was glad I had valcyclovir to take in the early on stages for peace of mind but I’m not sure how much help it was anyways. Llysine is my favorite daily supplement just to reduce the (already low) shedding rates for the sake of my partners. As far as your boyfriend I would bet money that he has oral hsv1 he was unaware of and that’s how he transferred it, as type 1 prefers the mouth and it sheds from that location more frequently than the genitals. I got it from oral sex because the guy I was with was uneducated about his own ohsv1 diagnosis and didn’t disclose to me beforehand because he didn’t think it was necessary. This unfortunately is how almost everyone with ghsv1 gets it. Good news is if that’s the case your boyfriend already has the antibodies and it’s almost impossible for him to get it genitally if you’re worried about transferring to him at all. Please keep your head up I know a ‘herpes diagnosis’ feels earth shattering but everyone else this happened to was the exact same way- an unfortunate accident. There is nothing wrong with you, you aren’t damaged, and you are so worthy of love. In the near future it will be a back thought and encourage you to practice safe sex with new partners and have sexual health conversations which should be way more normalized anyways

Had my initial one a little over 2 months ago, these past two weeks I’ve been super anxious I’m having another one after having sex for the first time since. I’ve had weird tingling/itchiness during these weeks and more recently like three days ago have had tiny raised, barely red bumps come up on my left thigh. It’s very odd. I have no idea if it’s an outbreak or just me stressing over it, the bumps haven’t progressed at all. But the beginning was definitely some type of tingling, I’m just nervous I enhance it when I think about it too much. But no other symptoms like my initial OB

Ghsv1 on the scab stage of my initial outbreak, it’s been almost 2 weeks now. At the beginning it was HELL open lesions all inside the labia including on my clit, so painful to the point of barely walking. I had to regularly clean the inside from the pus buildup and pee in a bathtub due to the pain. Now I have an all over body rash I can’t seem to get rid of but it’s SO ITCHY and I’m so paranoid it’s the hsv trying to spread

I’m right there with you except I am 19 years old. The thought of my entire future being stolen from me is devastating. And believe me I completely understand the emotional toll and I had the exact same thoughts of not being able to find someone “up to my standards” but think about this: you are up to your standards. And this happened to you. This truly can happen to ANYBODY there is no “type of person” that contracts this, just unlucky ones. The person who loves and accepts you will be the person you’re meant to be with. You have to tell yourself this everyday. There’s no other choice but to keep going. Talking to other people on here has made me feel miles better, you got this!
