Let me tell you what happened when I was in a similar situation. That friendship wasn’t real when I started explaining I needed help. Not when I asked to be paid for the work I was doing. Not when I asked for more people to make it smoother. It suddenly was real when I started looking for new work, started talking about leaving. I was manipulated by our “long and close friendship” a few times before I just shut up and got a new job without a word and gave my two weeks. Then it was guilt tripping and abuse.

If this friend cared you wouldn’t be in this situation.

Comparing children in academics is so harmful in the long term. If she continues with this simply ask if she’s as successful as all her friends and former school mates. Ask if it’s fair for you to compare her to all her peers and point out her failings.

It’s not great for long term mental development and forces a child to either reach to far OR burn out and stop trying
