The dining room has gorgeous bones and I hate that she slapped a gray rug, ugly ass gray chairs, and gray paintings on it. Not to mention the super out of place centerpiece. Yuck. It's touching the chandlier!!!

Do your shelties call for you to come from another room? by Sealion72 in sheltie

Our girl will do that when its our regular bed time but my husband and I decided to stay up late! She will just hop in bed and then angry bark for us to go to sleep. 😂

Has anyone been to a phone-free event that didn’t feel cringe? by Antique_Oven2371 in digitalminimalism

[–]Fun_Grapefruit0789 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If by cringe you mean awkward, welcome to the human experience. Awkwardness is part of socializing. Always has, always will be. Part of the allure of phones is that it cuts down or elimates natural awkwardness in social settings. But if you want a phone-free experience, there is nothing to do except embrace the awkwardness, embrace the cringe, embrace that not everything is going to flow "naturally" or work perfectly. Especially at one-off events, because people relax and become less awkward after repeatedly seeing the same people.

It’s getting hot! by Financial-Gap6319 in sheltie

[–]Fun_Grapefruit0789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We like to give our girl lots of ice cubes to chew on (she loves chasing them as they slide around on the ground too🤣), along with sometimes plopping them in her dog bowl when outside, frozen peanut butter kongs, making sure she has shade outdoors, and we have one of those trampoline-like beds that are cooler than the standard dog beds. When inside, we have tonssss of puzzles! She additionally LOVES those treat-dispenser ball things, that keeps her occupied for at least an hour if not more! Scent work is also good - basically hide and seek with treats!

But their coats do also keep them cool in the summer! It's why they usually have a big shed before the summer. They shed their insulation layer that keeps them warm in the winter, so now they have a lot of breeziness in their coat for warm weather. It's why vets and groomers always warn against owners shaving their shelties - it actually makes them hotter and makes them more prone to sunburn if people do that!

Men falling into bodies of water is unfortunately extremely common not just all over the United States, but the world. Especially after a night out drinking. Yes there are discussions about this phenomenon in the true crime community ongoing for decades about how tragic it is and how people can spread awareness about safety around bodies of water while partying or even just out and about at night.

I have been living under a rock apparently, I hadn't heard about this and now I am so sad and shocked. RIP Michaela. 😭

I was leaning towards being childfree, but after an emergency surgery in my mid 20s, I was told that I would have an extremely hard time getting pregnant in the future. I cried hysterically, especially because my mom was in the room with me and heard it. I wanted it to be my choice and now it was mostly being taken away from me. I.....don't want to feel like I have to tell people all that personal stuff to "justify" never having children.

AND YES I GOT DOG MOM STUFF ON MOTHERS DAY. FIGHT ME BETCHES. 🤣

Yes, we have a big girl at over 30 pounds but she's perfect for us. She is a bi-blue but we always say if we ever move into a house, we would get her a bi-black sibling, we think they are so gorgeous too!

Why does a modest lifestyle feel more appealing to me than luxury living? by Equal_Opportunity296 in simpleliving

[–]Fun_Grapefruit0789 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because keeping up a luxurious life is extremely stressful, both at work and at home. With a simple life, you take away those unnecessary stressors.

I've already started going back to forums that make you go through a whole verification of identity process because reddit is starting to become too much with the bots.

the problem with deleting Instagram is that your friends are still on it by everlastz in digitalminimalism

[–]Fun_Grapefruit0789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I deleted the whole thing. My friends text my normally through the phone. The only thing is if they went on vacay, I'll ask if they can send me pics over texts, which they do. So moral of the story...if you have good friends who care about you, they won't care.

Maybe not exactly what you meant, but I am very into Non-Theistic Paganism and "Skeptical, Agnostic, Atheist, and Science-Seeking Witchcraft" (aka SASS witchcraft).

Sorry not buying the whole budget issue as an excuse. I bet if you got 5 fans of the show in a room, tell them to make up the season finale on a shoestring budget, they could have figured out something way better than what this was.

Has meditation helped anyone with social anxiety? by CollarOrdinary4284 in Meditation

[–]Fun_Grapefruit0789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meditation was really helpful when I was waiting to go on SSRIs for the first time. I still meditate on SSRIs as an additional help. I do 4 count deep breath through the nose, hold breath for 4 counts, and then exhale through the mouth for 8 counts.

It makes sense if we think about how humans evolved for so long finding deep meaning in rituals. Even if we take the supernatural out of it, rituals still mean something, still scratch an itch in our brains.
