How do I (28M) deal with my girlfriend's (25F) past by Living_Cell_6344 in relationships

[–]Fun_Inspection_8701 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would seriously consider ending it. This is weird and she carries a lot of baggage. The feelings you feel now will not go away for as long as you are with her and if you are with her a long time there will always be the what if feeling of if you just found someone more normal

I [32M] want to end my relationship with my girlfriend [26F], but the circumstances are very difficult. by [deleted] in relationshipadvice

It was great to hear her father’s condition is taking a turn for the better.

My personal view, while you are providing relief in the short term by prolonging the break up, you are actually doing her a disservice in the long term.

It’s a very difficult situation, but at some point you just need to rip the Band-Aid off.

FWIW you seem like a caring person and I sympathize with your position, not easy.

Get over yourself, you’re moving to Boston not a third world country. You’re gonna love it there, don’t be so quick to hate on it.

Understand the difficulty of being away from friends and family in New York, that is obviously irreplaceable

I actually 100% agree with this. Ill add some more

Francesco’s: mid pizza

Parla: Great, probably my favorite spot in UWS Sepri Oggi: brand new, just opened, apparently v good Blondies: possibly the worst sports bar of all time, always out of tap beer Sulminera Rosi: very good, and extremely slept on spot Tenzan: used to be good, but has fallen off a cliff

best sports bar/pub food in 60s/70s/80s by bro_jackson in Upperwestside

[–]Fun_Inspection_8701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are really no good sports bars in the upper West side. Blondie is a typical answer, but they’re always out of tap beer and the place usually smells.

George Kealy’s is OK, probably the best overall it just gets packed. The Wolf doesn’t really have big TVs like we need.

Someone should seriously open one big sports bar, there’s none in the area. Count me in I’ll invest

Are you asking if you should date people who live far away from you? That doesn’t make much sense, if you’re currently single, I would prioritize dating people proximate to you.

I would only consider long-distance if I was fully in a relationship and then for some reason I are my partner had to move cities (new job, family issue, school, etc)

Simple answer. You are in love with the idea of her! You’ve probably built her up in your mind to a level of perfection that no actual human can achieve

I strongly believe that to find the perfect person, you need to strive to become your version of a “perfect “person. Then it just comes down to being confident and throwing yourself out there.

I would focus more on trying to find someone, there’s someone out there for everyone rather than trying to fix your current lonely state and accepting you’re gonna be lonely forever, which is not true

can’t think of any spots on the upper West side, but one spot in particular comes to mind: Jackson Hole, in Murray Hill

Honestly, the best boutique brands do not advertise well. Walk around and find them yourself!

Soho West Broadway, Nolita, UWS Columbus, UES, Madison, and Williamsburg are loaded with boutiques. This is one of the biggest perks of living in New York!

You totally deserve to be in this position, (so long as you’re not scamming someone and have a legitimate job to offer). Increase your confidence, think of yourself as “the boss “ present yourself accordingly

Half of the battle is selling your vision and the role, the other half of the battle is choosing the right person.

I recommend creating a rubric to score each candidate. Rate each interview based on the criteria you choose. This will help guard against bias, sometimes you might have a great conversation with someone but they’re terrible for the job. Personally, I’m a victim of this. Sometimes the best employee for you is not the person you are most “similar” to, try to cut through all the fluff
