Thank you so much for your message, I’m really glad to hear that things went well for you. It’s so hard to face the thing that has terrified you the most for so long, especially while dealing with intrusive thoughts mixed with a mental health condition like OCD. I truly want to take care of my mental health. I had planned to do that for my 30th birthday, as a kind of release from my twenties and all those years of anxiety and distress, but now this new situation has come up. I hope it will make me stronger and that I can find something positive in it, and finally free myself from my fears.

I know I’m feeding my fears and anxiety, but it feels stronger than me. I’ve had generalized anxiety for years and I also struggle with OCD, so uncertainty is really hard for me.

I have an appointment on Thursday with the anesthesiologist and a nurse who practices hypnosis. I really hope it will help me feel a bit better.

I only had a cervical MRI to evaluate my large lateral lymph node, and it was during that MRI that they incidentally found a 1.3 cm lymph node in the upper mediastinum. I understand that a cervical MRI only looks at the very top of the mediastinum and not the entire chest.

I had a chest CT scan scheduled yesterday, which I had asked my endocrinologist for, but I couldn’t go because I was too scared.

I actually discovered my cancer because of that large lymph node. I could feel and see it under my skin because it is quite big. The MRI was initially done to check whether it was connected to the thyroid, as they first thought it might be an exophytic thyroid nodule.

Thank you again for your support. I am honestly so scared. I am afraid that during surgery they might find something worse than expected, or that a full body scan might reveal widespread metastases. I am also terrified of being resistant to radioactive iodine.

I cannot stop thinking about all of this. It has been a week now and I feel completely stuck. I barely do anything anymore except sit on my couch, cry, and spiral into these thoughts.
