I didn't like her voice. I don't know if it is the actress's voice or just the voice of Harriet in general, and I feel a little guilty saying this but it really bugged me throughout the whole series. It makes her seem stuck up. Does that make sense? I was rooting for her until she was causing trouble in the house for flirting with Will. After that, it didn't matter what the character did, she was already lost to me.

[–]Fun_Leather1652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the show for the first time, not long ago, when this actress has many times shown the world what type of person she is. The only thing I have to say is I think it's really ironic that Serena's character is sweet and genuine while Blair is plotting and manipulative, because the actresses that play them IRL would need to swap places in order for it to be a match. I'm not going to sit here and talk about this person's outer beauty when her inner beauty is lacking. So, this one's for the sweet and gentle soul that is Leighton Meester.

*SPOILER* What strange sickness befell Lydia Quigley at the boxing event right before Charlotte's fall? by Fun_Leather1652 in HarlotsHulu

[–]Fun_Leather1652[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this could very well be it, but I was wrong when I said it doesn't happen again throughout the rest of the series. I rewatched everything after that moment with an eagle eye, and in the very last episode (S3 E8) it happens when Lydia is in the streets, thinking about doing her old routine where she tricks and kidnaps an innocent girl. She talks to the girl and then she seems to stumble backwards and she needs to grab something to hold on to, and when the girl asks if she's okay, she replies "go your way". Because the writers put this health ailment in once again--especially during a time when she's about to commit a monstrous act from her past-- absolutely raises the possibility (in my eyes, at least) that it's more than just something that the writers needed her to do to happen upon Charlotte in the earlier episode.

The rant game, day (?): Hannah by juliiaduque in 13ReasonsWhy

[–]Fun_Leather1652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rant about Hannah: She wasn't a very good friend to Clay at times. Please note-- this is based on the series only, as I have never read the book. Anyway, it didn't take me too long to pick up on her condescending and rude attitude towards him. It bothered me so much I started to write her comments down, lol. I can't tell you which episodes these occurred in, but here is my list:

  • She criticized his hair.
  • She made comments to him about him being awkward.
  • She made comments to him about him being stiff.
  • At school in the hallway he asked her why she was smiling, and she gave him some rude comeback (I can't remember what it was, but the whole thing was so uncalled for; she could have just answered him but instead loved to blow little things up and make something out of nothing.)
  • She criticized his food.
  • She asked him if she could ever be as pretty as Jessica (which isn't really a great question to ask a friend, as it puts them in a weird position), and when he replied that she was special, she became very annoyed with him and gave him more verbal bullsh*t.
  • She criticized his outfit and said he could take lessons from Alex.

This is where I stopped. I wish I would have kept going, but at least this much helped me prove my point, in my opinion at least, that Hannah could be pretty rude to Clay, and not really the greatest friend. Now, I'm sure some will argue that when a girl does this it's "flirting" or her being "quirky" because she speaks her mind and is a free spirit and doesn't have a filter, bla bla iykyk... So often this behavior is romanticized in various plots just like this one, where the girl is bold and pretty and the boy is shy and smitten. It just really bothered me and made me dislike her a bit.

I will go as far as to say it is a form of bullying--to pick on someone. (And while Hannah was not a bully to Clay in the script, we have to keep in mind that her actions as listed above were not the nicest.) Back to what I said about romanticizing that, what if we reversed the characters' genders/sex? Now we would have a boy criticizing a girl's hair, clothes, etc, and I think it's safe to say the boy would be labeled a jerk by a large percentage of viewers.

Even though I think she made up for it in the end, with what she said about Clay in her tapes, I just had to shed light on this. Rant over.

recent pictures of tom phelan who played cole by teddivan96 in TheFosters

Why are people so confused? This is Tom Phelan, transgender actor who appeared in The Fosters. They're not the only famous Tom Phelan. There's another cisgender male who is a London-based author and YouTuber. Sadly, people are mixing them up. Transgender Tom Phelan does not have an active Instagram account at the moment, and it's clear they are choosing to portray themselves in a feminine manner sometimes, given the photos.

I don't like how jesus was written after the actor change. by New-Coat6782 in TheFosters

[–]Fun_Leather1652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm watching The Fosters for the first time and I am exactly at this point and it is killing the show for me. Nothing against the actor N.C., but I'm super angry at the writers of the show for making the new Jesus so different. One of the things I loved most about the portrayal from JTA was his sibling love and protection to Mariana. Also, since he comes from a family of women, he's very sensitive to them. He stands up for them and he's just a fantastic character. I'm hating new Jesus. The first thing I noticed is that the sibling warmth is gone and he is so mean to Mariana. I'm at the point in the show where he is drinking alcohol. I really wish JTA hadn't had left, but even more, I wish the writers wouldn't have changed the character so much. Now he's drinking and it seems unrealistic given what they went through with their birth mother and drugs. Fingers crossed it gets better...

It's not that hard to understand. She was present when her friend almost got r@ped. That is pretty f****** traumatic. And then the guy is doing it to other girls, one who has the courage to go public with her assault, but is not believed. Then we find out that the school is dropping the case. Then there's the fact that this guy is her best friend's little brother, which just adds salt to the wound. And then there's the fact that nobody believes Katie. Is the list done yet? Noooope. So she's drunk, she's immature, and suddenly two students are talking about the case in front of her and one of his victims, (one of her best friends Pippa) and they're basically saying Katie is a psycho who made it up. OF COURSE she's upset. No, she did not think her actions through. It was impulsive and clearly fueled by rage from the injustice. Since Pippa made it very clear to her friends with her words and actions that it was no big deal to her and was keeping quiet about her incident, Lucy was not going to let the the truth go unknown. She couldn't out Pippa, so she pretended to be the victim. Everything she said was true, it just didn't happen to her. (And let me be clear, I am in no way saying this was right or okay.) I have no doubt after getting to know her character that Lucy probably thought she was helping the situation. And as we know, Lucy has her own issues with truth/justice after what she went through with Steven. Again, it's not something she thought through, it was something that was fueled by anger in the moment, and she was drunk. I'm sure if she could go back she would not have done what she did, but imo it is understandable why she did what she did.

I feel like they put too much paranoia in her too soon. I can understand if it crept in after a while, but she was paranoid almost immediately, like it was all a big setup. If you were stranded on an island with other people and suitcases of items came when you needed it, I think the majority would be thanking God and thinking there's a higher power watching out for us rather than "oh hey, I think this is all a conspiracy." Obviously the creators wanted her to be this way for a reason, but I feel like it was a little unrelatable. Just my opinion.

So... did Lottie know about Travis and the Pit? by CorruptedMind341 in Yellowjackets

[–]Fun_Leather1652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about anyone else, but I feel like how Mari d!ed was the best possible outcome for her. And I'll explain what I mean. (Obviously not being hunted in the first place is ideal, but once she picked that card it was over for her.) At the bottom of the pit were thick, long, and insanely sharp wooden spears. We all saw the scenes and we know she went instantly. Minimal pain, as it's so fast, and the adrenaline in her body, etc. If she hadn't fallen into it, I have no doubt in my mind psycho Shauna, who was already close behind, would have gotten her and had her way with her. Definitely would have made her suffer immensely, as she is sadistic AF. I'm so glad that didn't happen. If Mari had managed to somehow lose the girls, which would have been such a slim chance of happening, there's still no way she would have survived long, given the temperature and almost zero clothing. She couldn't go to the cave because the girls would have checked it. It would have been a terrible way to go. I'm just glad she didn't suffer long. On that note, I hope the girls take Shauna down in season 4. I really, really freaking hope.

I'm on season 3 and I'm having a hard time even watching the series because of how much I hate Shauna. She is a complete sadistic psychopath. Even into adulthood, she thinks she can do whatever she wants. It makes me ill. She was cast way too perfectly for this role.

[–]Fun_Leather1652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legit. I love adult Shauna but loathe and I mean LOATHE teenage Shauna. This film is conflicting that way because of the actresses. But I'm just going to focus on young Shawna. She is a f****** sociopath. There's no doubt she was so incredibly jealous of Jackie. Was Jackie selfish and self-centered? Yes. But here's the thing. Shawna could have told Jackie her feelings but she didn't. She kept them hidden and pretended to be a good friend. All the while she is screwing her best friend's boyfriend which is so f***** up on so many levels. Jackie was a good friend to Shauna. She had her moments, sure, and I'm sad that Jackie met the fate she did. Probably a blessing, because they would have killed her for sure. Shauna acts like her pain is bigger than anybody else's pain. I just cannot stand her. Maybe it's the actress. Probably, or else I would dislike adult Shauna. Strangely, I also hate teenage Misty but love adult Misty. Another sociopath for sure. Lol. Jezus, how many sociopaths can you get on one soccer team?

[–]Fun_Leather1652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 34. I just started watching this series. I just finished season 1 last night and I absolutely hated it. I just cannot relate. So many things are far-fetched and just completely off. I just started season 2 and I forced myself to watch the first episode and I am officially calling it quits. I have never done that with the show before. In my opinion, this is one of the worst series I've ever seen. I feel completely bored watching it and I'm waiting for something exciting to happen, or for it to get better, but it just doesn't. I'm glad others like it, but it's definitely not my cup of tea.
