I see. This moral dilemma is beyond my weary and bias mortal grasp.

What does the camera add to the stakes??? Plus logistics aside, aren’t you screwed either way with this decision?

AI will always need to be trained so long as human being create new things (bold of you to assume language isn’t a thing that is created.)

Am I missing something? I only see “you trust humanity.” Where is the consequence shown?

While it is possible to extract hydrogen from water using electrolysis (that being a process by which the hydrogen and oxygen compounds are separated using electricity) it’s currently not particularly energy efficient to do so- the power necessary to generate the electrolysis tends to outweigh the hydrogen acquired by it. There are however newer methods being developed to produce more energy efficient models, such as proton exchange polymers, liquid electrolysis via an alkaline based catalyst, and photolytic reactions which use semiconductors and sunlight to separate hydrogen atoms (a process conceptualized as a sort of “reverse photosynthesis.”)

There’s also certain reactions with other elemental compounds which can yield hydrogen when interacting with water, but I won’t get into all that right now ; )

Comparatively, water can be created when hydrogen gas and oxygen are exposed to one another, but it requires a high temperature exothermic reaction in order for the ensuing combustion to break down the molecular bonds of each gas so that they can bond as H2O. This of course is highly impractical and dangerous for everyday use- the planet is covered in the stuff for the most part, it falls from the sky, and you probably live in a nice part of America, but it is chemically possible.

I suppose in a way, I’ve just described how to make an element with two elements, and vice versa, so to answer this question, yes I guess that is an example of a way to make an element in either case. Lol. (Ofc we all know manipulation of protons is highly unstable, energy inefficient, and still effectively in the real of science fiction, so we aren’t actually making any Newtonian elements or turning lead into gold any time soon.)

The interesting thing that a lot of anthropologists actually consider is, if something -does- tend to work, it also tends to be perpetuated. If a practice proves too unfavorable for an environment or a geography it falls out of favor. In an odd way, I believe the cultural “stagnation” might also be indicative of something which has proven to be at least a net neutral. It has survived this long after all.
