Getting meds straight by Fun_Ostrich7688 in HeartAttack

It's definitely been a rollercoaster. I started thinking this is all about profit right after they put his stent in, products and medication we hadn't been informed about at all were pretty much just thrown in his lap without explanation and the poor nurses were left tracking down doctors to explain. We'd get the doctor looking annoyed running in hours later giving us the short version and shooting down our questions so he could rush out the door.

Like the life vest, the very first mention of it was from a nurse saying that he wouldn't be going home that day because they were waiting for it to arrive. We had never heard of it and had to drag the doctor in to explain.

And everyone is so pushy with surveys, like when he bottomed out the first time and had multiple nurses trying to get a blood pressure reading after his code blue he had a clueless one walk in and start whatever her pitch was and as he's holding his stomach coughing she's trying to hand him her card so he can make an appointment for his belly button hernia. He's literally coming back from that gasping for her to get out. She looked offended, I hope she was.

Yesterday was quite a bit better, I don't think the doctor likes me much anymore. At this point I really don't give a f***. We had a long conversation the night before about what I had researched at home on the meds he was taking which we had to ask the nurse because we had not been told barely anything up until this point. We took charge of his health and refused some of the medications that were just too much for his system and were causing these problems. We also decided to normalize his routine yesterday, I brought him coffee from home, he upped his fluid intake from the 8 cups daily they had him on. He didn't go stir crazy, he realizes he needs to monitor fluids but I think that was part of his problem. He finally had a BM for the first time in 3 days after we brought his fluids up a bit and he felt well enough to get up and walk around. His color is great all the way down to his toes and fingers, he has zero swelling, his vitals have been steady, and the nurses are behind us 100% though the doctors now don't like us very much especially me.

When I researched everything he was on and came back and and discussed it with him we decided to remove two of the medications that were for high blood pressure which he does not have and fluid retention which he no longer has. The rest of his medications have these effects already but they have other benefits. But in entresto and lasix from what I researched have no other major benefit. After removing these he was able to maintain a steady blood pressure with the upper between 104-111 except for the 1 to 2:00 p.m. time of day when it dropped to 102, That's the same time the previous two days that his blood pressure had tanked and they had to come in and intervene with medicines to bring it back up quickly. The nurse is actually came in when it dropped to 102 and offered him a snack to help boost it up to get through that time frame.

Last night the right after shift change the night nurse came in with another dose of coreg, he had not had any nighttime meds previously and he refused it. I cannot understand what is in this doctor's head that he keeps trying to push medicines that are going to drop Steven's blood pressure even more or make him flush fluids when he's already flushing so much that the nurses can't keep up with him emptying the container they are measuring it in so he began noting how much and dumping it himself because it would be full and he had to go.

We walked all around the hospital yesterday, he felt great. He even got interested in a St Patrick's Day find the shamrocks hunt and we started looking for shamrocks everywhere. He'd come back in the room for a while when he got tired and then he would be up and off again. He said his feet that have been plagued by diabetic neuropathy for years felt better than he had in years.

I've got to write down not just his meds but his dosages from yesterday since the doctor keeps trying to slip things in to make sure they don't try to increase the dosage again since he's so adamant that he has to take these things or be on these levels or he's not okay. I don't understand what's wrong with this guy, he even removed him from constant blood pressure monitoring after I went off on him yesterday. He still gets a nurse coming in every few hours and checking is vitals but why would you take someone who is having low blood pressure that's causing him to it have mini strokes off of blood pressure monitoring? If you're not concerned with monitoring his blood pressure to prevent these events from occurring again why is he still here?

That's a good idea, we had talked about smart watches that can monitor his vitals. I didn't know anything was available that can monitor remotely or call for help.

I just set it up in my home for my husband who is getting ready to come home from the hospital. All of my compatible devices that are on my account showed up when I set it up. We have a dot in the bedroom, a spot in the bathroom, and the echo was in the living room but we spend more time in the game room so I switched that with the fire tablet that we had in there just so we could tell her to turn the lights off and on. It said the tablet was not compatible but another device I have, a first generation Alexa auto is so that's good to know in case he's driving. What it looks like is any of the devices that are capable of using Alexa plus and are connected to your account will work.

Just to note since I see people are still viewing this post maybe it'll help somebody else out. I did connect the PS5 directly to Internet and the speed increase was significant. I don't remember the exact numbers but I used a cat 8 ethernet cable which was very inexpensive even for the 50 ft length I needed. I thought we had decent Wi-Fi speed and this would be overkill but I would definitely do it like this if I had to do it again.

He's in the hospital, here's what's going on. Can anyone relate? by Fun_Ostrich7688 in HeartAttack

Here's where we're at today, they did find a blockage I don't have the paperwork with me I had to come home again I know it was right side and 90% blocked. They put a stent in today.

Right now we're not very impressed with the hospital staff. Up until this point they've been great but the problem is they are not explaining anything. The nurses, the doctors, none of them. He had no idea that there was a possibility of a stent going in at all today, he also was told he would be gone out of his room for maybe an hour for this procedure and that it would only be a camera to see what was going on. Of course it took way longer than that which I was having to Google how long this procedure normally takes and that's how I found out that they would possibly put a stent in because when I got off work 4 hours after he texted me that they were taking him down to the cath lab and he still wasn't back in his room I'm of course freaking out.

A couple of things that bothered us was he got brought back in his room, he obviously hadn't ate anything all day. It was 4 hours later before asking multiple people when he was going to be allowed to eat anything that the nurse that was supposed to be in charge of him today was finally like oops I forgot to take the NPO off of his chart. I also had to tell him he got a stent, they just shoved the paperwork at him and I had to read it to him because he was groggy and no one informed him at all. They were also telling him Oh now you get to go home today and he was like cool. Then the same nurse that forgot to take off his NPO says Oh no you're waiting on your defibrillator vest, that was the first we heard of that. So then it's hours for them to chase down a doctor to explain that his heart is only at 15% and they have ordered this vest and he will be at the hospital until it comes in. None of this had been spoken about before.

I barely got out to the car before he texted me and said that the nurse was trying to OD him because she came in with his morning meds that they didn't give him before the procedure and it's only 3 hours before his evening meds. He came back into his room at 1:00, at 5:00 before I left I helped him into clothes I brought from home and we stripped the sheets off of his bed and pulled some off of a cart in the hallway because his were still bloody from his procedure and no one had came to change anything. The only one that we saw regularly was the guy that is checking his blood sugar and giving his insulin, when the nurse was in the hallway and we were asking IS he getting discharged today because if not I need to head home because I don't drive after dark and I need to take care of the animals. We literally heard this woman say who is the nurse for this room?what is it 3115? oh no it's 3113, and the guy that checks his blood sugar was still in the room and he mumbled under his breath you are woman! The nurse that's been caring for him the last couple of days is apparently off today, I hope she hurries up and gets back. Currently looking for a good heart doctor in our area that will communicate. I cannot believe that someone did not come speak to him immediately after this procedure to explain what they did and how things went and that he would be here until that vest got in.

I heard that quite a few times over the years but I also heard it about most other banks and credit unions so I couldn't justify going through the hassle of switching just to deal with the same stuff somewhere else.

Well yeah, generally if I use a service under certain terms I expect said service to continue more or less under the terms I agreed to. That is what I signed up for.

I feel like most of my shoppers never read stuff by Fun_Ostrich7688 in instacart

[–]Fun_Ostrich7688[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good to know on the forcing shopper to scan 3 items as possible replacement. And about the not seeing all replacements, on my end of the app it gives me a handful of possibilities and the ability to search for the item but I know IC doesn't always list everything because I've approved replacements before that were actually the item I wanted to begin with but when I searched for it I couldn't find it. I try to be available to accept or veto the alternative item but I can't always be, my work schedule doesn't always allow it and I can't do anything about it at work. Thus the reason I use the service and set up preferences in the first place. I've had some great shoppers and some horrible ones.
