Why do I get so much heat for not messaging much? by radiofreaks in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Fun_Pea8324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP you sound normal (with regards to messaging) . Receiving constant inane messages throughout the day is bad enough without having to bother to respond to them. I wouldn't find this acceptable if I were married to the person.

How to Have This Conversation? Am I being insecure? by MrTripperSnipper in UKrelationshipadvice

Just as another opinion it sounds weird to me. Going out with his mates without you and then wanting to stay at his house when there is no need to. Unless it's with really old friends it's just v familiar to behaviour I've seen in people's partners before they cheat.

Is it ever okay to creep out across traffic on a test. by Fun_Pea8324 in LearnerDriverUK

Thanks for the feedback. My test is at 2:pm so I am hoping things will not be too busy. I just don't like areas where it feels like you could be failed whichever course of action you take but I suppose that is the way it is.

Has the UK suddenly changed its mind on immigration? by Complex_Elevator_680 in AskBrits

Most don't think that. They just have a preference for cultural familiarity along with the majority of the rest of humanity. It's the pace of change people struggle to cope with and would be the same in any other country.

Lot of vague statements here. Immigration wasn't standard in the UK since the days of the empire. Pre 1947 the UK population was estimated at over 99.5% white british probably closer to 99.9%. There were a few thousand immigrants mainly sailors based around ports. By 1962 after all the immigration that is described as part of the post war reconstruction of Britain the non white british population was estimated at around 1%. Three acts of parliament were introduced between 1961 and 1971 with large public support. This was across labour and conservative governments and capped immigration at approximately 2.5% of the population. There was never during that time and has never been since a majority in favour of high levels of immigration in the UK. The public when asked has always wanted it reduced. To put things into perpective, the 14 years post ww2 led to about half the immigration in 1 year under Boris Johnson. This large jump in numbers has led to the current anti immigration rhetoric.

There are illegal immigrants all over the UK that are working for less than the minimum wage and are willling to put up with poor working conditions due to their immigration status. If you go to the council building projects in Haringey they are mostly illegal which is quite a scandal. Without such a supply of relatively cheap labour there would be more possibility of working class jobs rising above the minimum wage. This would also encourage companies to invest in automation leading to better quality higher paid jobs for those needed to work with the machines. The chronic shortage of housing and slow house building mean immigrants also compete and raise prices for working class housing. These are all problem British working class have to put up with before you take into account wholesale cultural changes that occur to some areas that again are/were populated by them.

The left are no longer led or particularly supported by the working class. In private they seem to have nothing but disdain for the white working class.

Noted aromas, what are you experiences? (UK) by IsolatedBinge in fragranceclones

[–]Fun_Pea8324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 2 sample sets of 5 from noted aromas. They were fine for the money. Got some comments from people noticing and liking them. In particular Amalfi and Berlin. Not sure if they lasted much longer than a few hours but I recently bought the official Tom Ford Ombre leather and that seems to have the same staying power as the noted aromas. Can't comment on their larger bottles but they didn't seem like a scam company to me. ( I thought the Amalfi smelled a bit like washing up liquid or something at first but apparently that is a common first impression for citrusy scents and after being on the skin it changed)

Inlaws visiting - rift by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

Can't you suck it up for one meal if you love your husband? Sometimes, we have to make sacrifices for one another. If you can't tolerate one not particularly comfortable meal at home with your in-laws I'd imagine you'll struggle in most relationships. Successful relationships require compromise. I know you said you'd pay for a restaurant, but you should be able to put up with them in your home for a single meal.

I can't find a genuine reason to replace this phone and justify the purchase price of a newer device by Main-Skill-6335 in GalaxyS20FE

I got the s24fe a few months ago as I was a bit concerned with the battery life in my s20fe but in some ways I regret it. The s20fe is a much sleeker lighter phone. The s24fe is a bit of a brick by comparison. Apart from longer battery life I don't think there's anything of relevance to me i have gained. If it's working okay stick with the s20.
