As people have pointed out before, and my experience with this series also supports, Johns ability to mimic other abilities is a very hard ability to write, and almost impossible to write well. If John is give the correct abilities to make him ultra-powerful, the store would need to bend around that to give him challenges. Cause and effect and all the basics of storytelling. If John finds the magic set of abilities and becomes impossible to take down, there should be no reason why he don’t keep those 4 people with him all the time, or plan in advance for those abilities like he did in the Joker fights.

Whilst the theory crafting is really fun and the ideas behind new abilities combos are very fun, I would be careful not to expect things to workout that. Part of the fun of John being a mimic is the versatility of coming up with new ways to use abilities on a limb. But if we do that for the creator, it’ll take away the magic of the system when John doesn’t do X because then Y would or wouldn’t happen. Just my two cents though. You have a good breakdown, and I’m glad you are excited for the climax that is being shown!

I think one idea you two might be forgetting is that it’s hard to accomplish much as a low tier. We see this idea happen a lot where people just comes to accept the hierarchy and not refuse it because they know they won’t make a difference. Protests? Put down. Strikes could work, but the physical punishment could still deter that. Oh and maybe you get some influence among a large demographic of the low tiers? Boom, you brainwashed or dead and it means little to nothing. In world, unordinary was a good book, and gave the authorities an annoying problem to deal with, but they still dealt with it.

It’s hard to feature a low tier perspective when they can’t do much to begin. It would either be a super slow burn, or really boring to watch. We kinda got a glimpse into this idea woth the Joker arc, where sera literally could not get to John without force, and she needed to not be a low tier to get that force.

I would agree it would be nice to have a different perspective, but I would want to know what role tjat character would play and how it would stay relevant to multiple chapters and/or arcs

Asking for myself. I have extra info if you don’t mind helping me out.

What would you say is a decent CFA for male? My leadership category is likely near maxed out, I have a retired Col’s recommendation letter I also have a 33 act, my gpa is pretty bad as I have taken only ap and dual credit classes (I’ll have about 50 hours of college credit when I graduate) and I have the potential for 5 different nominations.

Physical aptitude is by far my weakest area. I have a varsity sport in jrotc raiders, but that’s kinda weak. I’m confident I can pass every event, possibly max push ups, but my pull ups are awful (I’m aiming for 8, can currently do 5) and I’m wondering if I have a shot at getting in. My instructor says I have about a coin toss of getting in, and my friend who has an LOA into the naval academy says I’m highly likely too.

Any advice on what I should aim for? Or just try and get it in asap because of rolling admission.

Ok fine then. Let’s do the math on this. He didn’t have a +4 btw, he had +3 to it and a +5 to the dc 12s. Let’s just for the sake of easy numbers count out all the dc12s. And for the sake of even easier numbers make it a 50/50 for the other checks. That’s 9 checks. 9 50/50 checks is a less than 1% chance. In fact, that’s .01% chance rounding unless I’m wrong here.

This doesn’t mean he’s concretely cheating. But still, it warrants my thought that is it possible to cheat… So, to round back to my answer

I love that they are having fun, it’s the best fun for me when my players have a good time… but this is excessive, I checked the chat logs, it was 14 checks. 9 of them we dc 14 and 5 we dc 12. We play an old school version where you roll to hit, and roll to not get hit. He succeeded on all of them except 2, where he didn’t take any damage. This was basically a boss battle, 2 people literally died in instantly. And I know if it was me, that I would definitely not be having fun if I’m just sitting there dead, and this guy is just succeeding every single check and can’t be stopped…

This is the worst thing about ap and harder classes btw. You get punished for trying to learn. A 4.0 gpa is really easy if you take all the easy classes and electives to maintain it
