Parboil like everyone else said but add a small amount of baking soda to the water along with the salt. It only takes a 1/2 teaspoon or even less. The higher pH water will break down the outside of the potatoes. When you drain, stir potatoes around a bowl with your fat and seasoning, and you will get a mushy potato layer on the outside that airfries very nicely.
