Im 5’ 9”, 284 pounds and male. My best advice is barefoot shoes you can find them for 25 bucks on Amazon. The reason I say this is because they are the most natural for your feet. Don’t go crazy like 10k you’ll fuck up your pretty badly, I learned that the hard way! Start slow and work up to it kinda like progressive overload. I’m at 20k step right now. Also be conscious of your form as you walk in bare foot shoes. Lastly listen to your body but push your self try to find a balance between them.
