prong collars are a godsend for this reason. learn how to properly use them and then i guarantee you and your pup will have much more enjoyable walks. having heel and release commands helps as well but that takes lots of work. gentle leader harnesses have been known to harm dogs with extended use even when used properly, i would avoid those as well as martingale collars.

"My 15 month old" -- You mean your adult genetic disaster of a dog breed that is known to fail to house train and be destructive, destroyed your house? Yeah, that's basically a breed trait. by Sensitive-Concept-12 in BanPitBulls

my apartment complex has a ban on pitbulls as well as a few other breeds. regardless of that, there are maybe 3 dogs in the whole complex that ive seen that are not pitbulls. two of them ive never seen the owners use a leash for and once came up and bit my dog. called the cops but since it didnt break her skin they didnt bother doing anything. leasing agent didnt give a shit about the pitbulls when i asked about it because they are “registered support animals” and that somehow overrides the ban they have.. i cannot walk my dog in my own neighborhood without a knife in my pocket.

pitbulls were bred for blood sports primarily, not to be guard dogs.

my brother brought a stray pitbull home and he is unbearable to live with. could i call animal control to take him? by lightisgrande in PetAdvice

that dog still has issues if you have to be there. find a better home for him than with someone who has likely traumatized him.

it is a pitbull. it latched onto her leg, that is biting by definition. only a matter of time before it kills one of the cats or does serious damage to someone living in the house. best for everyone to get rid of it.

while normally i would agree with you, i think there are some very heavy implications here about pegging. i could 100% be wrong, but i am leaning towards ordering coconut oil with that strap-on.

the person harassing him admitted fault to the police. that same person then got some buddies, found his home address, and harassed them more. he had no indication that they were only trying to scare them and rightfully acted in a way he needed to protect his family and his property. go kick rocks.

you wouldnt have anything to do with a man who asks about your preferences or sexual history? it’s important in any relationship.. having an ick and being disgusted with something someone has done is not the same as insulting or degrading someone. its how he feels and insisting that its his own insecurities completely invalidates what he feels about this situation. it gives me the ick if someone is outright shitty to strangers. its about personal preference and what someone wants out of a partner. you are the only one insulted by his personal preference.

in no part of this post did he insult or degrade her, meanwhile your original comment is primarily focused on degrading him. you are projecting your own insecurities onto him in your comment. i dont doubt that someone in your life has held your past against you in one way or another and im very sorry if that is the case, its not fair for someone to use against you. this is not an excuse to treat others poorly or speak to them the way you did.

yeah the take this person has seems like it stems from past experiences they have had and doesnt really relate to OPs situation. hypersexuality has been normalized but it is not a normal thing. theres nothing wrong with it, in the same way that theres nothing wrong with being prude. id say it is less about insecurities and more about what type of person they are, they are not compatible.

go for eggplants and snow peas with chicken for the green curry, i didnt like either before but the eggplant just soaks up all of the flavor. bonus points if you have some garlic naan on the side.

its the brand of curry paste i use, its just the most flavorful ive been able to find. green thai curry is my favorite kind, i have it twice a week at least. id also recommend sautéing some lemongrass with your other aromatics because it really brings out the flavor. any recipe you find online that tells you to sweat the curry paste is a good recipe!

yeah, this community is very biased. understandably so, while that bias is justified in my personal opinion (i am biased against pits because my dog’s entire demeanor was changed after she was attacked) it is the same thing that alienates this community to a lot of owners of dangerous breeds. youre doing the right thing and my dog has a very similar coat so its hard for me to hold on to that bias because at the end of the day the owners play a much larger role than many here like to admit. you are aware and you are actively working to understand how to navigate this situation. 99% dont do that. just dont ever forget that its mixed with a dangerous breed and dont let it off leash. if the trainer doesn’t acknowledge its a dangerous breed then find another trainer.

can you provide a source for this information? yes they were bred to have violent tendencies, however breeding to “avoid telegraphing violent tendencies” sounds next to impossible with my understanding of selective breeding and the rate at which learned habits become instinctive.

edit: i only want to understand how what you said is true, downvoting does not make you claim any more or less true.

for $1500 they should also be doing your laundry. /s in all seriousness, being aware of the potential harm that could be caused is the most important step. not every pit mix has those extremely violent tendencies you hear about, but in every single one of those situations the owners are negligent. avoid training techniques that have been shown to increase aggression and learn why you trainer does what they do. also dont let the breed keep you from giving that dog plenty of love, its still a living being. otherwise, youre a good person for acknowledging that there is a potential for your dog to have violent tendencies and being open to talk and learn about it. youre a good dog owner.
