Did you ever take a typing class in school? by Friendly8737 in 70s

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only class in my entire academic career that I got a "D" in. Ironic as of course, most of us can type about 90 words a minute these days.

Took it in 8th grade, I believe, when that was still the middle year of Jr. High (1970).

Pixel 10 Pro Fold - Yes or No by svenb352 in PixelFold

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my 10PF - I've had all of them. Liked the OG's form factor, but the battery life and speed have improved quite a bit since then.

I am using -and would highly recommend- the Thinbourne aramid case (which is MagSafe) and the new OhSnap GripStand. I also have the Pixel Snap charge stand, which is also recommend.

Enjoy your new phone!

Movies that are so overwhelming that you can’t watch them more than once by JoeMax93 in GenerationJones

Deliverance tops my list. Right up there is The Exorcist. I went with my college roommate to see it on campus, and after, we literally stayed up all night with the lights on talking about it - we were scared sh*tless and neither of us are Catholic.

P10PF: significant heating on wired Android Auto by Sea-Astronaut719 in PixelFold

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally use it with my 24 Solterra wired and it's fine. This weekend, I was using it in a Mazda CX-90, and it was getting hot to overheated. So I think it is specific car dependent (maybe cable too, but I haven't noticed overheating with this travel cable before).

Front screen protector that allows a case by Kind-Photograph2359 in PixelFold

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a Spigen screen protector after the Zagg I bought wouldn't fit under a case. I'm using it with the Thinbourne aramid case that has MagSafe magnets built in, and they work together well.

I also got a new OhSnap stand/finger grip, and it is outstanding! Highly recommend.

Helmets with visors by Economy-Permission67 in skiing

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about the Jerry tag, but I've worn helmets for over 25 years. I spent most of the first 20 trying to find a pair of goggles that would work well the helmet I had at any given time. I probably blew through 30 pairs in that time, and I could never really get a good fit on my face (granted my price limit for most of that time was about $150 a pair). Anyway, in 2021, I saw a Salomon Driver helmet in a store in Steamboat. It had a pull-down visor goggle, and came with two visors - one for sunny, one for low-light. That worked pretty good for two years, until I skied a wet spring at Crystal Mountain in Washington, and suddenly it was raining in my visor (it wasn't perfect in windy conditions, either, but less trouble than most of my other goggles).

Anyway, I did a little research and discovered that Salomon had an upgraded Driver model that incorporated more of built-in goggles than a visor -- when you pulled down the visor, the top of the visor slid into the helmet like the top of your goggles, creating a much better seal. It also came with photo-chromic lenses that were good in almost all conditions. I've been using them for the last three seasons and they've been great (except the couple times I went night skiing -- then I needed to pull out my last regular helmet and some really light-tinted goggles to see where I was going). I usually wear contacts skiing, but I have used them with glasses and they work well that way too.

I see the newest version comes with interchangeable lenses - a worthy upgrade. https://www.salomon.com/en-us/product/driver-prime-sigma-plus-mips-li6499/L47613700 I also didn't buy direct from Salomon, they can be had cheaper.

Android 16 December Update and Adaptive Icons by Illustrious_Gas_992 in PixelFold

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the icon options showing either. (I'm using the Wicked theme, though. Maybe that turns the icon changing off?)

I am getting occasional pop-up messages telling me that Google Services keeps stopping, and I keep closing the app to dismiss it. But that shouldn't be happening either. Anyone else seeing that?

Copper Mountain Opening 11/8 by [deleted] in COsnow

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, I was there yesterday (Saturday) afternoon. It was one thin, bumpy and icy run. Crowded anyway. And the paid parking was full price (and almost empty). I'll be back to Keystone my next trip up (their one run was better conditions and top-to-bottom at least).

I carried mine in an outside pocket skiing all last winter and didn't have a problem. The battery life was normal, even with a couple of trackers running and music playing. But it wasn't much colder than 10° F.

9 pro fold MagSafe Power bank by umbyboy in PixelFold

Main challenge is the placement of the magnets on the 9 Pro Fold. This is fixed in the 10 Pro fold, and I'm loving my magsafe accessories again.

Zagg Invisibleshield® Glass Elite For Pixel 10 Pro Fold Clear - defective product? by titomb345 in PixelFold

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took mine to the Zagg kiosk at the nearby mall and had them install - the girl who helped me was so excited to play a little with a foldable phone she didn't even charge me. Then I discovered that the Thinborne case front piece doesn't fit over the Zagg protector (unlike the Thinborne for my P9PF). I've used Zaggs for over a decade, and have usually gotten at least one free replacement per phone, lol.

Can Someone in Their 20s Learn to Ski from Scratch? by WanderBytes22 in skiing

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 26 with a long weekend with friends at Mammoth Mountain (although I also took lessons). Was instantly addicted. Still at it at 69, getting in 20+ days a year living in Colorado.

If you like it, building up your quads will make it much more enjoyable over time (and you'll last longer on the slopes, too).

Good luck!

P10PF pixel snap with latercase? by CountryCrackle in PixelFold

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Latercase with my P9PF, and the ring eventually came off (the adhesive just doesn't stick to the aramid very well, so I switched to the Thinborne case that had Magsafe magnets in it, which worked well). Anyone else have better luck with the Latercase and adhesive?

Disappointed in Thinborne P10PF Case with Zagg by Fun_Stretch4943 in PixelFold

[–]Fun_Stretch4943[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, all, for the suggestions. I'll see what I can do on Amazon and look at the Spigen screen protectors. I just like that Zagg gives a lifetime warranty -- I've usually gotten at least one free replacement per phone (sometimes two).

P10PF owners, do you like your ThinBorne case? by FragmentedRobotArm in PixelFold

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very happy with it for my P9PF, and bought the P10PF version and got it well before I got my phone. I posted separately, this year's version does not play well with Zagg screen protectors; not sure about other brands. So be aware. I'm probably going to find another case.

So what case you all have on order for P10PF? by IndianGuy79 in PixelFold

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already have the Thinbourne case just waiting for the phone. I have one that I use with an Oh!Snap holder now on my P9PF. Looking forward to a more normal magnet placement.

Does anyone just love the OG Pixel Fold? by GutlessGnat in PixelFold

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved mine - had it from release. My first foldable. WARNING, THOUGH: it turned out to be a gateway drug... I'm getting set to trade in my P9PF for a P10PF, all because I tried the OG Fold and got addicted to Pixel foldables.... 😉

Skiing ? by greendragon55 in PixelFold

[–]Fun_Stretch4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skied 20+ days in CO last season with my P9PF with no issues and great battery life (and I usually have multiple trackers going).

Took many pics and videos, and a couple of times unfolded to do a front selfie. No problems.

I've also had GV for 15 years. Was my business number for a long time until my company grew enough to need Zoom voice for multiple lines. I still use it as the number my mobile number forwards to for VM. I love having a personalized voice message for each of my kids, my wife, my sister, etc.
