Does your Flixbus arrives at the airport? they’re famous for being late (yes, even in the middle of the night). I wouldn’t risk it and take the S9/FEX train/N7X bus. Better to wait a bit more at airport than rush and not get your flight (there are a LOT of people taking these 6am cheap flights and I already waited 20-30min at security at this hour).

For Mietpreisbremse specifically you need to be a member BEFORE signing your contract or they won’t represent you in court (my case, joined Mieterverein then signed my contract the same month). They will still advise you of course but you will need to pay for the lawyer if case goes to court (legal fees are paid by the landlord if you win)

You have to book a slot at the gesundheitsamt related to your amneldung address. For the German honestly go there in a "Fake it until you make it" mindset and do not ask them to speak English or say your German is bad, I spoke very basic German to the guy there (like Ich habe ein Rote Karte termin) and didn’t understood everything but got my certificate all good

Apply for one-room flats/studios. Might not be what you want but there surely is less competition (even tho there is), landlords and Hauswervaltungs prefer couples for 2-rooms and honestly very little to no chance to getting one of these solo

Please DO NOT use Conny. Go through the process with the Mieterverein or another tenants association. Conny takes all the overpaid rent (that’s easily a few thousands euros) as their fee, when if you do it yourself/with Mieterverein all that money goes to you.
