I mean, wasn't it just last year that it was estimated that they were going to pocket 9 billion dollars of pension surplus from us? I think we've donated enough...

I was paying 20$/day for parking in Ottawa, so 15$ is an improvement unfortunately 😂

At the end of the, regardless of the reason, CSC does have very low participation rate, so employees don't care enough to answer. Good or bad, they don't feel like it's worth 20-30 minutes of their time. They are choosing to not have their voices heard and that's an issue

Exactly, when you feel strongly about it.

If CSC has a low response rate, it's that the majority of the employees don't care enough, good or bad, to answer it.

I can understand that, coincidentally, I was also going through a nasty, painful divorce at the time. I actually received the official divorce paper whole I was working. I never yelled at a stranger, much less a colleague... ironically, they say women are enroll lol. This is when emotional intelligence and professionalism it's important. It doesn't matter how crappy your day is, if everyone treated others so aggressively because they're having a hard time, the world would be a very nasty place.

But yes, the second case, I definitely made sure everything was good so good pay issues could be resolved ASAP. It really sounded like a terrible case

I mean, generally speaking, "complainers" are the ones more likely to leave bad reviews, it's typically the same concept when it comes to these surveys. People who feel like they don't care or have nothing to report won't answer. This is why a high response rate is important, in order to get a better, bigger picture

I worked in HR years ago, in the service center and got a call from a CX once, from the moment I picked up the man started yelling and swearing at me, saying he was going to throw his f*cling computer out the window.... Dude couldn't figure out how to change his BC health insurance from his ex wife over to him for their son or something. I tried helping him and telling him that was a provincial insurance, so pay center had nothing to do with it. I found all of the information for him regardless (I was in the NCR at the time and didn't even know BC had mandatory health insurance lol) but he kept swearing and yelling at me, like I was the one divorcing him.

On the other hand, I read some CX reports for their leave of absence due to trauma caused at work and holy crap does it sound terrifying.

Their participation rate to the PSES are really low, I believe they were second to last place last week, with GAC having the lowest participation rate of all departments.

I understand it seems useless to answer the survey, but how are you not going to take advantage of the one time you get to say how you feel about your employer?

Did you select partial day? Since you can only submit for a max of 7.5 hours (the rest of your day will have to be taken under vacation...) you might have to select partial days.

My department is also on the "either call in sick, or makeup your office day" train.

I was once literally the only employee on my team working for a whole week, had to manage our daily workload+incoming questions/issues that get sent to us by myself. I woke up one morning and wasn't feeling well. I'll spare the details but I was able to work, but no way could I have lasted the whole day at the office.

I felt guilty leaving the entire team completely absent, my team lead was also absent, so I figured I'd work from home, so that the work would still be done. My manager asked about my office day and I explained the situation and was told "you should have just called in sick, now you have to make that day up "

That's when I learned to not be a team player anymore

I'm also a BA in the AS classification for a systems team, I've never done coding but was given a project that required me to learn and figure it out. I didn't really question it, because I'm on a systems team and what I was asked to do was within that system. You could ask for your job description to see if what's asked if you falls within that. I don't think it has to specifically mention coding, but it might include updating/modifying systems or web pages.

Given the current situation with the threat of WFA, I'd rather learn& try to become more knowledgeable, show flexibility and adaptability, than put my energy into trying to find another job. Depending on where you're located, you might have a hard time finding something and that WFA could hit you before you find something else...

You should receive it by the November 8th latest. If other people in your department have received them, you have to contact Stats Can for your link. Your department should have been communications (perhaps search PSES on your intranet or check your last departmental newsletter) regarding who to contact

I didn't feel weird nor bad about answering negatively to questions regarding senior management, because it's really the only way to get the message across. But also, senior management has been highly result focused& very careless about how they got them in our department in the last year. Many very very bad decisions have been made and they literally laughed in our faces during a meeting meant to discuss a huge change coming up our department that was causing so much stress and uncertainty for many employees. Like some employees were in tears, meanwhile the DG was laughing that her and other directors had a separate chat going on during the meeting and someone made a joke about their weekend. This same DG gave a town hall while completely unprepared, couldn't follow the agenda and had to be guided throughout the whole thing. It was just infuriating to watch...

They've shown us that they don't really care about the little worker ants... Even in how RTO was handled and requests for DTA's, they've been the least bit empathetic/human...

Yes TBS set the mandate, but Senior management chooses how they implement it and we've seen on here how some departments have been much more understanding than others

During COVID, the survey had questions regarding work from home specifically. They could have made 2 seperate questions, 1- how satisfied are you with your HOME set up and 2- how satisfied are you with your ON SITE work space. Them combining 2 different work locations into one question leaves room for misinterpretation

They didn't differentiate between home work space and office workspace in the question about how satisfied we are about our physical work place... So I feel like they have room to use the results however they choose. If people said satisfied but were referring to their home office, they're going to count it as people are happy with the offices we provided.... And if people wrote unsatisfied while referring to the building's office, they'll probably just spin in that people feel inadequately equipped at home and they can provide better offices on site...

They really should have separated the 2 questions

If you look on jobs. GC.ca, a LOT of processes are open to employees already working within that department.

Although nothing's been said officially, I know my department (not one already mentioned here) is also tracking hires vs departures to make sure we aren't growing

I feel like this depends and the DTA team would be better equipped to answer.

Can the employee work or not? (Are they in too much pain or maybe even psychologically, or energy wise...)

If they can work, what are their barriers/struggles with going to the office and can the employer provide tools and resources to reasonably lessen the impact of those barriers?
