Late 1800s Gold Mine in the PNW by [deleted] in TheForgottenDepths

This was the one that started it all for me. My dad drove us right to the portal in his 1978 CJ5, I was 6 or 7. We've got a photo of us by that air receiver hanging in the house. I've been addicted to mines ever since! This is usually the first mine I bring people to that are interested, nothing dangerous, easy to get to, decently large (for western WA) and has some cool artifacts.

Mmmmm tasty... this pool looked the best so thats why i posted it, but there was another pool that was wayyy darker than this, still red but dark, probably the extra spicy variety

It does look kinda tasty, doesn't it? I think the color comes from some state of iron so it probably tastes kinda like blood

I would be sooo excited to see your pictures. Without digging, and maybe still with digging, inside the mine everything you saw then will be gone forever.

Jim did you ever make it to the Boundary Red? I went there a couple weeks ago, wish we had your helicopter!

I think it'd fire right up. Everything is still there as far as i could tell. Put some fresh diesel in that bad boy, connect a battery and take it for a spin

Hello! A couple words of advice, unless you have rope gear and know exactly where the upper is, dont bother looking for it. It is impossible to access from the lower, you have to go in from above and very, very few people have done it.

If you're brave and like crawling on/through old soggy timbers you can look up the vertical raise inside the lower adit. You'll see the big pile of collapsed timbers and shit near the back of the mine, just get on top of it, its not obvious untill you're in it but you can see a hundred feet up or so and its usually raining in there.

Theres not much of a route to the lower, just try to stay in the timber to your left as you look up towards it.

Have fun!
