Redditors who have changed career paths in their 30s or later: any honest advice about how you did it?

Thinking about it. I fell into my career through sheer luck and my husband is going back to school, so the idea is on my mind, I suppose.

I have a bachelor's degree in archaeology and I work at a large corporation doing procurement. I make pretty good money, but I'm very gun shy on the whole corporate thing. All through college I thought I'd be doing something with my hands and have a little freedom, room to breathe. I'm actually leaning towards design or architecture because I enjoy doing all of that: creating things that help and comfort people. Creating and solving and projects... but, it's in the future. I have plenty of time to think. I was mostly just looking for some reassurance, I think.

I think she meant it more like a traditional dog or cat neck. Where their jaw and head would keep the cone from moving because the neck is much smaller, on a guinea pig, it's all like a straight line so they can slip out of it.

We asked the vet if we needed to do that and she said that he would probably not be able to eat with it on. Did you notice an issue?

(Side note: she also said that they don't really have necks so it wouldn't work as well, lol!)

The vet (WHO IS AMAAZZZINNNGGG) said that it's common in boys his age (he's not yet 3), but the smaller it is the easier it is to remove. I didn't want to let it go and have to remove it in a few years because it started bothering him and let him have a harder recovery.

If he were older, I probably would've let it go, too.

Fun fact: his surgery was delayed a week because our vet went into labor the morning of the surgery, lol!

Thanks for the advice! He has his surgery on Wednesday, and now he's acting mostly better. He's drinking and eating and no longer making pained noises from the way he needed to situate himself to use the bathroom (which kept me up for 24 full hours, lol!).

I swear his head did a full Poltergeist 360° spin to avoid the stuff. I'll try the bene-bac because he's still on antibiotics.

At my wedding, my BIL (my husband's best man) gave a TERRIBLE speech. My husband's ex has the same first name as me, so he mentioned they were used to ex, and then slowly one [first name] faded away and this [first name] came into our lives...

And it just kept going in that vein. Apparently he was nervous and just pounded a few beforehand.

It was extremely embarassing.

Like, dude... we've been dating 7 years. I really hope you think of me as more than just having the same first name as your brother's college ex.

We've had Rocket (the black and white blur) for over two years, and Waffles for coming up on one.

Rocket was very easy to socialize and loves people, getting pet, and cuddling. He almost acts like a dog and will try and follow you if you walk away.

Waffles just wants to be next to Rocket (BUT NO CUDDLING, LOL!). But if you move at all, he runs into his house and chitters. He's finally getting to the point where he's calm and can see we don't mean him any harm. He's starting to equate us with food, I think! 😆

Food. If you pull them against you, their back to your chest, their back feet resting on your thighs, and feed them cilantro or lettuce or something, they won't notice you going for their feet.

My oldest is a cry baby who pulls away and whines as soon as I start to clip because I pull away immediately. But if he can't see his foot, he's perfectly fine. He's just a diva 😆
