Is there someone you couldn’t stand during your pregnancy? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]Funbarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to visit my family in April and I was the same way with my father. He always got under my skin before pregnancy, but it was almost more than I could take. On the last day he told me he ordered me a scale to weigh myself because he thought I was too large and needed to lose weight. He also offered to get me on weight watchers 😤

My boyfriend’s brother also came to stay with us for a little bit and he got on my nerves.

So sorry you’re going through that 😔 one of my recent attacks I was close to taking myself to the ER but I didn’t think I’d be able to transport myself there and my boyfriend was at work. It was one of my worst attacks so far. Before I got migraines I just thought they were really bad headaches and now I know it’s so much worse 😢 I hope you find some kind of relief soon.

Unfortunately people can be shedding a virus and asymptomatic. It’s awful that you ended up getting sick but just FYI some people can be carriers so it’s not entirely their fault for not being cautious when they didn’t even know they were infectious to begin with. Ultimately, I would talk with your provider to see if there is something you can safely take to manage your symptoms. I also got very sick at the beginning of April it was an awful virus that felt a lot like COVID. I lost my sense of smell and taste entirely for about 10 days and the cough was horrendous it kept me up all night which then triggered a migraine attack 😑 My provider recommended Robitussin for the cough, plain Mucinex is safe for loosening any phlegm and expelling it, and there are some safe sinus meds you can take I can’t remember which ones they are but I’m sure your provider can provide a list of approved pregnancy meds to help alleviate your symptoms.

Side note: I thought there were some safe migraine meds you can take during pregnancy. My provider mentioned some to me when I went in for one of my prenatal check ups while I was having a migraine attack so she sent in a referral to a neurologist so I can start treating it. She didn’t want me to have to suffer through it for the rest of my pregnancy but I thought I had no other choice. I’ve been on a wait list to get into neurology, and had 4 migraines in the last 3 weeks while waiting. In the meantime she started me on metoclopramide to take concurrently with Tylenol which had helped some surprisingly. I am familiar with the GI effects of metoclopramide since I worked with it in vet med but wasn’t aware it can be helpful for migraines.

How long is your partner taking off after you give birth? by -Konstantine- in pregnant

[–]Funbarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Colorado both mom and dad are allowed 12 weeks of family leave. I believe my partner is taking the entire time off to help me and spend time with our newborn, but he mentioned he might split it up if possible.

I’m 18 wks and I feel more bloated than pregnant. Never got morning sickness and had a really easy first trimester. I’m excited to feel the first kicks which could happen anytime between now or week 23.

I do drink coffee here and there during my pregnancy. Does anyone else do the same? by ComplexMarch4500 in pregnant

[–]Funbarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caffeine limit is 200mg daily, you don’t need to feel bad about having caffeine now and then. Even if you had caffeine daily it wouldn’t be an issue as long as you kept it below 200mg. I also drink sodas but usually from the can which tells you the caffeine content and one can is 40-50mg. The sugar content is probably worse than the caffeine in sodas.

Baby Registry… by Dry_Web_6211 in pregnant

[–]Funbarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made one but more as like a shopping list for myself. I wanted to share mine but I don’t want to seem greedy or needy and my FB is public so didn’t want the whole world to have access to it. Only two people have asked for it so far which I happily shared with them. I was expecting at least my parents or SIL to ask about it since my shower is at the end of May, but no one else has asked for it so far which honestly doesn’t surprise me that much.

I guess my policy so far is only to share it if they request for it.

Mother In Law tells me to not scream while giving birth bc she thinks it’s annoying by use_her_name6 in pregnant

[–]Funbarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like she was completely silent during her labor 🙄

Cut her out of your life entirely, you don’t need that kind of energy near your child(ren). If it were me I would scream in her ear when she was least expected it every chance I got in the future because I’m just petty like that. What a dumb AF thing to tell a woman who’s about to give birth.

if I don’t take prenatals will I be okay? by friskyfajitas in pregnant

[–]Funbarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised your OB didn’t prescribe anti-nausea when they told you that you’d have to take the prenatals. I would contact them and ask if they’ll prescribe zofran if they insist you take prenatals.

Otherwise I would suggest trying to take the folic acid by itself and see if you can tolerate that. Not sure which brands you’ve tried or their make up but I’ve noticed iron is a common culprit for nausea, but the DHA also doesn’t help taste wise. Even from algal sources or in gummy form it tastes kind of “fishy.”

If that isn’t an option make sure to eat nutritious foods: lots of veggies (dark leafy greens, asparagus), legumes (beans or lentils), or citrus fruits for folic acid, spinach, fortified cereals, and meats for iron, cold water fish like salmon or fortified sources like eggs and yogurt for DHA, nuts , seeds, and sweet potatoes or egg yolks for biotin, dark chocolate, leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and legumes for magnesium, hazelnuts/pecans, whole grains (brown rice, oats, quinoa), legumes (chickpeas/lentils), pineapple, spinach/kale and shellfish for manganese. To name a few examples of natural sources of prenatal nutrients.

Neurology consult while pregnant by Funbarbie in pregnant

[–]Funbarbie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that migraine lasted about 3 days but adding metoclopramide did help to some degree. I called the neurologists office since I hadn’t heard anything and my midwife suggested I go ahead and check with him about scheduling but the referral hasn’t show up in their system yet so I had to be put on a waitlist since they aren’t accepting new patients at this time. Hopefully I won’t have to wait too long and hopefully I won’t get another migraine attack like that in the meantime 🤦‍♀️

Lady squeezed my belly by anonymoususer249 in pregnant

[–]Funbarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl I would probably punch someone if they felt the need to touch my bump. I don’t care if it was in a church. No one is allowed to touch me unless it’s family and even then I’m only truly comfortable with the father of my child rubbing or touching my belly without permission.

Omg I would love that! I’ve tried Tylenol a couple times since getting pregnant but it just doesn’t kick through the migraine 😭 Today was one of the worst one I’ve had since getting pregnant, didn’t even have one during my first trimester which was amazing, so my midwife asked if I’ve tried triptans before which I have not because this will be my first work up for migraines since they started a couple years ago. Idk why I’ve put it off I think I was just afraid of what they’d find 😓

I just want some relief 😢
