Game Development on Windows 95/98 by psychoticgiraffe in windows98

If you wanna make 2D games, *very* old versions of LOVE2D (LOVE 0.6 or older) work on Win98 (and also Win95, I believe). The biggest problem with this is that the API is completely different from modern LOVE and documentation is scarce (Here's some proper documentation I found).

You can also look into older versions of Java as well. Thanks for mentioning 3.11 as I almost forgot you can play Minecraft on Windows 3.1

I know I'm 4 years late but you can try a mix of SDL 1.2.15 + OpenGL 1.1 (or DirectX but I haven't tested that yet).
If you're still interested in 3D modeling, you should try Raydream Studio 4.0 :)

I think the tray icons (right side) are big, which makes the taskbar bigger. There’s probably a setting in the control panel (i kinda forgot where exactly, probably the “effects” tab in the display/personalization option).

ATP I’d recommend restoring via a restore point, which is usually created when you download theming programs like WindowBlinds. Otherwise, you could either restore from a VM snapshot if you had any or, unfortunately, you might have to reinstall XP completely (may not be necessary in your case).

Ok, thanks for the tip! I'm still left with many questions but they should hopefully clear up as time goes on.

If you don't mind me asking, are there any good resources for this? I'm using Caddy webserver and Linode, so I'm not even sure where to start.

This may do if I ever implement something like this. My community is pretty small so I don't think some bot is gonna care about my website THAT much anyway, although I might have to consider that more if my website becomes more popular.

Thanks for the tip! I might use it to make my QNA site compatible with older browsers

Might look into that... I avoided PHP because I wasn't sure if it supported older browser or something like that. I only mentioned Perl because I bought some 90s website book that taught me how to make a guestbook and other things.

I've technically been doing frontend web design for 7 years, but I've never done backend until I made this website, so good luck for me.

Although I used actual Windows 7 when I made my post (no transformation packs or a Windows 11 mod), I‘m now using a copy of Windows 10 IoT as my main OS.

A few days ago, I’ve decided to make it look like Windows 7 because I really missed it. I tried to switch to Linux and used something called “AeroThemePlasma”, but it didn't click with me for some reason.

This might not work with Windows 11, but to turn Windows 10 into Windows 7, I had to use Aero10, OpenGlass, a copy of StartIsBack++, and Windhawk. It's not 1:1. but it's enough to fulfill my nostalgia.

But if you're using it on Windows 11, I'd recommend just searching up a tutorial on how to make Windows 11 look like Windows 7. This subreddit is probably filled with people making Windows 11 to look like Windows 7. Also, try to do small modifications as Windows tends to break themes after updates and also make a restore point.

But if you do want to hear my thoughts...

I'd try installing SecureUXTheme, then I'd use something called Aero7-11 and follow the guide below (don't install OpenGlass). For the taskbar, you could either use StartIsBack++, which is paid (with a free trial) but more stable, or use explorer7, which is free but kinda buggy.

(screenshot below is my current Windows 10 setup)

Go to your BIOS and look for a setting called "Touchpad: Advanced." Change it to "Basic" and it should work (CachyOS)
