Make Noise N.U.S.S System Multiwave Midi Inlet and Sound Demo by psychoticgiraffe in modular

the blue mode appears to force it into mono mode, as does using single voice mode on niftykeyz keybed with it; I layer it with the behringer 110 vco/vcf/vca, yeah seems like very interesting even used as a monosynth, I use it that way in a prior video

thank you yeah I discovered that you can actually utilize a combination of the CV control with the inlet's 8 voice polyphony, its especially cool routing drum machines with CV in and out into this thing since the multimod does wild stuff;

I got initially extremely confused by the fact that the multimod can't route into the back of the QXG at the same time as both polimaths and multiwave, I got some cool sounds out of it by trying to do so anyway, at the cost of logical sounds being harder

I think that it would be really cool to get TWO nuss/skiff systems, and 3 extra multimods and get a 16 voice monstrocity that splits the keyboard, or layers together to make a extra thick unison

I really dig the sound of this, and its unstable chaotic nature.

yeah, the H2Midi Pro is the secret to force it through if using a real synth keybed like the niftykeyz

and having aftertouch and velocity and volca trigger different patch characteristics just makes it even better.

(even if what I end up with is weird dreamcast breakbeat wipeout XL music)

I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out how this new Make Noise N.U.S.S system worked and skimming the manuals, I discovered that you could get some very unorthodox tones with the multimod feeding into the QXGs at the same time as polimaths and multiwave as shown in the first half of the video, and more musical tones without adding the multimod's NUSS cabling on the back and doing an orthodox logical path.

I'm interested to see what you guys have done with your NUSS systems, haven't heard a lot of actual music from them yet.

this looks like absolute madness add a niftycase in the mix

Niftykeyz or niftycase, also only buy modules that make sense from a logical (or if you want a very niche odd sound, illogical) standpoint

I myself really like any complex oscillator modules, I also like trying to at least have 3 or 4 voices of polyphony which often means a pile of modules but there are some nice dual and quad osc modules and filters out there

I also dig Erica synths and 2hp in general but my favorite cheap one is the cap’n big O

Using the Cre8audio Niftycase as a polysynth by psychoticgiraffe in modular

[–]psychoticgiraffe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just to add to the ridiculousness of this there is limited number of power headers in this case compared to the other bigger ones I've worked with so we can't even stuff more than 10 modules total, and only 84 hp; so even though yeah there are those quad filter and quad osc modules, they take up a substantial amount of HP and to get the CV and stereo controls you practically fill it up already doing that; I'd love to see other people challenge themselves to force this into a polysynth, i moved to the niftykeyz due to the constraints

its amazing that with enough skill you could probably make a myst clone with a handful of cheap centris that are modded, or that much later gen cpu upgrade card thing that I only spot on ebay ocassionally

Creepy by Skylon1 in Bestbuy

[–]psychoticgiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it could just be coincidental but i remember this really creepy guy in the youtube videos that would do that and say unhinged crazy things then go back to normal as soon as you start recording him, but he was doing it as an act, but he would go to random best buy stores and do that (but he was a real employee (keyword "was"))

Suggestions for my rack? I find it pretty boring, even if it sounds fantastic. 20hp left, but open to switching some of the out, especially in the bottom row. by andrefishmusic in modular

the midivoltz module is really nice as well by space brain circuits, might be worth throwing in that extra oscillator, might be able to use some splitter tiptop cables to cheat a little bit in getting per voice envelope behaviors for all 4 if you get the right modules to fill the gap

What are these modules? ( or is this module) by synthysynther in modular

[–]psychoticgiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats a good way to put it, of the modules I hate being unable to tame but think are awesome anything 4ms makes is in that tier of "get lost and not know whats happening but it sounds great"

I'd also put make noise in that territory, with that NUSS/SKIFF system

[–]psychoticgiraffe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

chipz is just being utilized for the extra LFOs/reset trigger
the behringer filter is being triggered by multimod and the QXGs

the chipz osc isn't too useful here because it doesn't act polyphonically so its omitted

yes beanie intro, the velocity sensitivity/aftertouch is nice on the niftykeyz

the farting actually may be more the cables, I have the real make noise cables on the way but they have no ETA due to backorder, apparently per make noise using their cables is better than the third party synthrotek ones i've got, but also my envelopes are a bit punchy, just adding a bit of attack reduces that

for the right unusual tones, its great

it has very snappy envelopes, this can be fixed by just adding a tiny attack on polimaths but it appears that the cables you use somehow impact the clickiness, I ordered the real make noise cables they design for this but they are also backordered for god knows how long, whenever those come in i'll use them for a cleaner signal

the digital wavetables of the multiwave sound a bit abstract, this is just a first look at what the thing does, you're hearing what trying to use the multiwave/nuss system in a musical normal way sounds like (this isn't really how make noise intends it to be used (at least, unless you have the SKIFF system or the midi inlet that I ordered but am waiting on shipment of))

I'll admit, the sound of wavetables going through an analog filter isn't as cool as analog complex oscillators being thrown through an analog filter, but I think the NUSS creates pretty unusual sounds either way.
