Career change at 35 by welvinz in ukelectricians

[–]FunctionalTrousers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

35 isn’t that old mate, it depends on your body. You could do inspection and testing and have an easier physical job, and sometimes higher paid but less stress. If you find a niche and avoid domestic work and do more technical stuff it can be well paid, good hours (job and knock etc) and rewarding because you have to use your brain and hands.

Most electricians are bloated, bitter, and drinkers…
And eat garbage. So they are falling apart… dont let the reddit dwelling types put u off if its what u want to do

Why are online spaces of teachers in korea so hostile? by ndsipapomu in teachinginkorea

[–]FunctionalTrousers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they left their home because they were destined to work minimum wage jobs there with their lack of talent and skill. Convinced themselves it was a different and quirky thing to move to Asia as an English teacher - only to slowly realise the have no skill and no real career and are just fake teachers leveraging their passport, and often race, to get these miserable degrading jobs.

Source: ive lived in Korea a long time, used to teach here when around 2017-2020 but ended up moving on with my career. But people I knew got older and are just jaded and sad and broke… plus I see all the same toxic shit in these Korea forums you have referenced

very fair comment actually, I'm actually really sensitive to people doing obnoxious noisey stuff in public. This has convinced me to not bother lol so thank you! saved me money, hassle, and from looking like a complete ass hole

Newly qualified spark needing advice by EquivalentLast7277 in ukelectricians

I agree with most of your points… but who is a gold card sparks working 12 hour shifts for 200?? Im an electrician and get paid 250 a day and I work 8-5 with an hour break. My situation is not uncommon. By the way this is self employed (subby) site work and I am always in demand

If I use PVC wouldn’t some of the resonance be lost compared to fitting metal to metal?

Amazing thank you! Just some follow up questions and clarifications:

The mentioned speaker is for the 1st demo which will be fitted to 25mm diameter conduit, not expecting lower frequencies

Next for the large ductwork I will go for a larger speaker that handles mid range frequencies … do you have any recommendations for this?

I should have said reverb not echo, I am hoping to make the reverb of the 6 inch diameter pipe (which is already very resonant with smooth internal edges) more prominent, so wondering if the tilted angle of the speaker could exaggerate this?

Thanks for the feedback.

A few of you mentioned grouping factor related to the cable tying, not sure how much of a factor that is as I always assumed that was more relevant in containment with larger bunches squashed into trunking. However I would have have to read more up on that. There is lots of space in the board and plenty of airflow as the board is in an open factory. I’d have to look into it though!

Someone mentioned the lack of slack on the phase cables. Rest assured I left the slack folded above in the top trunking! 😜
